I almost even have to say something about the hair, as when I had my surgery they literally shaved my head down the center, around the back, almost like a reverse Mohawk. something like the girl here, but not nearly as nice. in fact, way worse. I had already cut off about 2 foot worth of hair to donate to Locks of Love, but it was definitely a shock to see myself in the mirror the first time (that was about four weeks post surgery)

ReplyDeleteAwesome card Holley and love the sentiment too.
ReplyDeleteMy other hobbies are planning birthday party decoration and making costumes for my little girl and friends. Just love it... ;)
Such a neat card. And the sentiment is so perfect. They could have at least gave you a hair cut that wouldn't be so bad. Bit I guess sometimes it's just hard to do. Love the elephant. He's cute. And both cards are adorable from the design team. I do a little bit of everything. I just started learning how to crochet. I paint, do all kinds of things on canvas, love Mixed media, I draw, diy projects, home decor, it's in my plan to learn more jewelry making, wood burning, glass etching and more this year. I'm just one of those out it in front of me and I will learn to do it people.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! I don't seem to do any other type of crafting but cards. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteWhen my friend had brain surgery they did the same thing with her hair. I don't know why they just do take it all off. who is going to want to look like an old man balding man that decided to grow the sides of his hair out....LOL Myself would rather loose it all. And it is easier to take care of. I make a lot of cards. But I am trying out my skills on art journaling. Bugaboo does have some sweet images. TFS
ReplyDeleteI crochet and I love to draw. I also enjoy doing crafts with the kids as well
ReplyDeleteThe card is great and love the saying. My hobbies are watercoloring, reading, sewing and card making.
ReplyDeleteVirginia Montagna
DEFINITELY NEED THIS SET! This sentiment is so spot on! As a 3 time cancer survivor it says it all!
ReplyDeleteAwesome card! I also do jewelry making, altered art, mixed media and am starting to get into painting. I just enjoy creating things!
I remember the day that my hair started falling out and was devastated! I shaved it all off and hid myself away for weeks. Finally, I decided that I was who I was and if people wanted to stare that was fine!
DeleteMy daughter has that haircut right now by choice. She's 14 and wanted to look 'edgy'. She wears her clothes like that when the weather permits too! I need a print of that stamp just for her album! lol
ReplyDeleteI have dabbled in about everything at one time or another. I sew a little, but don't do any kind of embroidery anymore. Never really quilted though. I crochet a bit, but don't knit anymore. I like to cast jewelry, but don't have the equipment anymore. I do some beading and wire wrapping occasionally. I do all kinds of paper crafting. I paint some, and make a lot of different kinds of altered mixed media pieces. I want to experiment with encaustic wax painting next! lol
I LOVE the sentiment! It is the perfect sentiment for you and so many of us. As always, your coloring is perfect.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add my crafts - not so many any more, but scrapbooking and card making - would like to get into some other types of paper crafts, such as collage and whatever else I can find. I sew some, and am going ot crochet again with a brace; hope it works!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtakingly! Beautiful cards.

ReplyDeleteI love this image. Bugaboo has really expanded the variety of images to include something for everyone. I love the story that goes with this card, too.. I also scrapbook. I've tried a little mixed media. And I'm getting back to needlecraft. I abandoned knitting and crocheting for scrapbook many years ago, but I have a new crop of great nieces & one TBD baby on the way who really inspire me to make them something!

Hi Holley, great card. The hair is good. Hobbies include rabbits, chickens, gardening, hot and stained glass, all things paper. Hugz
ReplyDeleteWonderful card as always Holley...and GREAT sentiment! I love to read and scrapbook, and do crossword puzzles (a new pastime for me). But my main crafty interest is still stamping!
ReplyDeleteHi again, Holley, I love the above cards, you such beautiful work! Wish that I could afford some of the stamps and embellishments you use. Am unemployed. I used to make earrings back in the 70's, I have also quilted, done some cross stitching, now I make cards all the time, do swaps, have not ever sold any, if mine looked like yours, well I think that I could sell some to get more stamps. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful card Holley. Both the sentiment and image are very moving. I can see how they must appeal to you, it's almost as if they were made for you.
ReplyDeleteMy first venture into crafting was dressmaking. Then I did tapestry and embroidery until I discovered papercrafts. That's all I really have time for nowadays x
Love the card and sentiment. I also sew and scrapbook.
ReplyDeleteBoy this card is so me for the last few months so many sad things happening in my life but God is turning it all around for me a little at a time. I have to say my son's cancer haircut was really weird too his was all shaved in the front and sides and left alone in the back. But you know what I was happy with it as I still have my son. When it finally began to grow back in it was odd as the back of his hair was light and the front was all dark as could be. He dyed it all Navy Blue and I loved it as where before the cancer I would have forbidden it, I again was just happy and thankful to have him with me, If he had never had the cancer I would have not experienced all the many accomplishments he has made since he was diagnosed as terminal or witnessed so many great things and experienced what cancer can do to others. I now have a different feeling about life all together.
ReplyDeleteOther things I have crafted in my lifetime Wowza here we go LOL Ceramic's, Macrame, Crochet, Embroidery, Quilting, Sewing Clothes, Country Ruffle Curtains, Costumes and Multi other sewing crafts for bazaars, Cake decorating, Wood crafts,Towel Cakes, Diaper Cakes and Diaper Wreaths etc., Flower arrangements for wedding receptions and home decor, Scrapbooking, I just love to create my own designs in my crafting, no matter what the craft may be I envision what I want and fly by the seat of my pants a lot of times and just enjoy watching peoples expressions when they see something I have made. Would love to learn how to make jewelry someday.
Wow! You really have a connection to this image! We should all Keep Strong!
ReplyDeleteI seem to get into craft cycles, and love to try everything. I do a lot a crocheting, altered art and paper crafting. I also make jewelry and utilitarian art. Because I am always making something, I participate in the Abandoned Art movement.
I loveI'm ultiple crafts. I take spells of crocheting. Lately have been making deco wreaths.I have tried soap making and embroidery. Some things I stay away from because I don't ever Dabble in a craft. I jump in with both feet. Great card you did.
ReplyDeleteI guess if you have to cut 2 feet off your hair it should go to someone who can use it :)
ReplyDeleteFor myself my other hobbies are creating beaded jewelry, stainglass and painting

hugs Nikki

beautiful cards.. I make cards, flowers, jewelry and I also do crochet.. rarely I do embroidery on clothes...
ReplyDeleteMy Hair...I've tried to let my bangs grow - have NOT succeeded. The bangs get a certain length that drives me nuts...so SNIP SNIP & I go back to my regular bangs! lol
ReplyDeleteI do Crochet, Embroidery, and starting to draw again! :)
I admire your positive approach towards life and it's challenges. Both the image and sentiments suits very well.
ReplyDeleteOther than paper crafts, I enjoy making jewelery and sewing.
You have been through so much, Holley. It really is wonderful to celebrate the outcome with you! Love the card and it is nice to see the other folks cards as well. I paint and if I see something else to do in the way of crafts I am always ready to try it a time or tow. Always go back to painting or stamping.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that they make stamped images of how we feel. When they don't I have a tendency to carve my own. I am happy you have found so many that speak for you.
ReplyDeleteOther things I've been doing is paper folding, painting, crochet and cooking.
I still have the Japanese earrings you made for me!
Your hair was a small price to pay and it was short lived right?? Your card is great as usual! I love to read. I love any kind of craft. I used to make jewelry but now I mostly crochet, paint, cook etc etc
ReplyDeleteI love the sentiments on this card! (Image too but you know what I mean). I can just imagine the hair and how that would just add insult to injury so to speak. Even knowing it will grow back wouldn't be much help at that time. So glad it is all behind you now.
ReplyDeleteI also love to bake/cook and sew/quilt.
It's funny how a little thing can become a big thing. Luckily, hair does grow back, and the price was well worth it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card for your Anniversary month! Love the beautiful image, great saying, wonderful diecuts and color combinations.Trading your hair for your health seems like a wonderful trade. Although, I'm sure it was a very difficult thing to go thru at the time. I enjoy making cards, scrapbooking and fun crafts with my 8 great nieces and nephews ranging in age from 1 to 11!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'll bet losing most of your hair was a huge shock but thank goodness it grew back and now you are reaping the rewards of the surgery. I love a good ending!!
ReplyDeleteI love to cook and bake, and do a little sewing as well. I'm not fancy in either of those but I do it with love and that's what counts, right?
Beautiful and delicate colors of the card even if the power.Touching brings the text.
ReplyDeleteHi Holley - I have been quilting a lot longer than I have been stamping and I scrapbook, too! I occasionally make jewelry!
ReplyDeleteThe month sure did go by fast. I am just now starting to make some foufoucha dolls. I have no idea of the correct spellings, so I'll just say some foam dolls. Lol I don't recall seeing your jewelry Holley do you have any of it on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteI don't do other crafts any more. I know how to do a lot of different ones, but found it hard to have time so I decided to concentrate on cards and scrapbooks.
ReplyDeleteI love crafting! But mostly I do scrapbooking, card making and altering items for sale. I also do digital pet memorials. I have done quilting and would like to get back into that sometime.
ReplyDeletenot sure if my comment posted...
ReplyDeletei love all of them, but especially the fairy.
i usually draw what people want, but this one i drew...JUST for me. that was my hair style at the time...the original actually has my tattoo of my baby boy on my arm (who passed)...she sits in a puddle, its raining and tears. i am happy i could reach someone with it =)
