Here's the valentine card that I made for my DH. I hope he will like it. This stunning image comes from Ike's Art. Her lady stamps are fabulous. This image is called Never. Be sure to check out the Ike's World Challenge as every two week's there is a new contest and she gives away a wonderful digi stamp freebie so you can play along! http://ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.gr/
Question of the day number 1: do you use printed papers of mostly card stock? premade cards (i.e. blank cards you get in packs) or just cut up paper to make your own cards? What size?
I like to cut my own cards, have a really hard time using printed papers, I am always so envious of people who can pair papers with images, esp those who can use multiple papers at once. I also just buy plain or polka dotten cardstock and cut my own cards typically rather than buy packs of blank cards. I do a lot of square in 5.5 to 6"
Check back later this afternoon for ANOTHER post :)

She is a gorgeous image and beautiful coloured. Love the little heart and flower. I use mainly 8 x 8 card stock , I do use printed papers both from packs and ones I print off from Cd's. Hugs Jennifer xx
ReplyDeleteI buy A4 size card and cut it myself to make 15cm x 10.5cm cards. I do use different designer papers some times too
ReplyDeleteI use all sorts of stuff but mostly cut my own cards. I like 5 x 7 or 6 x 6.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for using one of my images. Your colouring is fabulous. I hope you have a great Valentine's Dayx

What a lovely valentine's day card! :)
ReplyDeleteI mostly make my own card bases, only white. 15 x 10.5 cm :)
Hi Holley this is a stunning card I love the beautiful image you have used. Have a great day. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! It looks like a painting! I generally use card stock and printed paper to make my cards, cutting the paper for an A-2 size.
ReplyDeleteStunning image Holley. Love her hair!

Gorgeous card. You used the patterned paper very well. I cut my own paper. I make 4.25 x 5.5 and 5.5 x 5.5 almost exclusively. Every now and then I’ll make a 4 x 8 card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Holley. I prefer a CAS look, so mostly stay away from papers. I used to cut and fold my own cards, but more often than not now I'll use a shop bought card base xoxo
ReplyDeleteA beautiful image and card. I do a bit of it all. I use premade and I make my own.
ReplyDeleteI use 8.5x11 card stock to create my bases in either black or white. I use printed papers from 12x12 pads mostly. I make my envelopes with the wmk punch board.
ReplyDeleteI love the card and hubs will too. Gorgeous papers and wonderful coloring!
Stunning card. Your coloring is beautifully done. Your hubby will love it. I too am challenged with matching patterns. Maybe that is why I always seem to lean towards CAS cards. I love using pattern papers for the accents of my CAS cards. For my card base I usually stick with the standard 4-7/4 x 5-1/2 by cutting a piece of card stock in half. But I have been venturing out to new sizes. Just making sure I can get an envelope the correct size.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this image. So pretty. I use preprinted papers as back grounds. I mostly make my own cards, but have purchased the precut card stock if it has the envy's to go with it. I usually make the A2 size.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning Holley, the image is beautifully coloured too!

Happy Valentines Day!. I always look forward to see what you make for your husband. He will love this card. I make my own cards. Mostly I think the are 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. Thats 2 cards out of 1 sheet of cardstock. Sometimes I will start making a card and it turn out a different size so I will have to make a different base for it. I do use patterned paper but usually tie it with a color to help blend it with whatever stamp I use.
ReplyDeletea lovely card hubby will have loved it im sure and so well shaded as usual
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card, Holley! I’m sure your hubby loved it!
ReplyDeleteI always cut my own from cardstock, and I love making my own paper backgrounds too!
Stunning card Holley, beautiful and striking image. I use ready made blanks at home but make my own when I demo. I love using patterned papers. Cathy x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a gorgeous image. I use cardstock and patterned paper for my cards. I make a lot of different sizes. Hugs, Barbara
ReplyDeleteI use premade blank cards usually but do cut my own from card stock depending on the size or style I’m making. I use patterned paper and card stock together for my cards.
ReplyDeleteLovely card Holley, I use card blanks already made plus make my own 😁 I also love using printed papers but some of them are too gorgeous to use x
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day Holley. I know your husband loved his card! I usually cut my own cards in an A2 size, but sometimes buy packs of blank cards and envelopes just to have on hand. I have been trying to use more patterned papers on my cards but always seem to gravitate toward solid cardstock, or very subtle prints.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card! I use card blanks for standard sized cards and then start building from there. I also agree with Lorre-Anne. some prints are too beautiful to use, so I hoard them.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card, again, today, Holley. Such a pretty image. I prefer paterned papers that I cut myself, for my cards. I usually cut my base pattern 4"x 5 1/4 to start
ReplyDeleteI usually make my own cards cos I have lots of card, patterned and not. Usually working on 4 x 6 or 6 x 6 or 6 x 8. The project often dictates the size. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI use both printed papers and card stock together a lot. I cut up my own, mostly A2 size, because you can get 2 cards out of an 8-1/2 X 11 sheet of card stock (most value for your money), Love your Valentine's Day Love card. The soft pink look really worked on this card.
ReplyDeleteI just made a bunch of cards using the One Sheet Wonder technique from 1 sheet of pattern paper size 12" X 12". It made 14 cards. I left off the sentiment until I actually need them to send out. Was great fun.
Have a great Valentine's Day, Holley.

Hi Holley- I mostly make A2 cards, but when I make collage cards, I make them larger. Audrey R in Austin
ReplyDeleteI use both cardstock and printed papers!!!
DeleteGreat card! I use cardstock, cut to A-2 size, and use design papers to make my cards.
ReplyDeleteHolley she is stunning and I have to agree those that can mix the crap out of papers always bewilders me. I look at them and think humm never would have thought of those and I usually stick in one colour group blues, greens maybe two colours in one but it's tough I mix both plains and coloured together and when they don't I sometime colour them to make em match (a lot!!!)
ReplyDeleteSizes Mostly A2 and 5.5 by 5.5 I just buy the envelopes and sometimes the base set and envelope if there is a great sale on :)
hugs
Wow imagine having hair that thick to cope with. lol I usually use coloured card stock to match the item I am using. I cut my own cards to suit the "theme".
ReplyDeleteI would love to hair like that...or even to be able to color like that! I use both pre-made envelopes and cards and home-made ones. I have been trying to use more patterned papers on my cards and layer them with my solid papers.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful! I do use printed papers when I have them. As for card size I don't have a standard. If I have the precut, prescored I will use those, but I mostly cut my own cardstock to fit whatever image or envelope I have decided to use. I have a box full of different sizes and colors of envelopes from a card company that I use and cut the cards to fit the envelope, then create the card. Backwards, but it works for me.
ReplyDeletegorgeous card!
ReplyDeletei sue printed paper usualy because here is hard to gte crafty goodies
love it!
Another great card, I'm sure he loved it. I usually cut my own card bases. I do have some pre-cut cards, primarily in specialty papers, but I like being able to use odd sizes, so cut your own works best.
ReplyDeleteStunning card!
ReplyDeleteI usually make up my own card bases in either 4 1/4” X 5 1/2” or 5 X 7. I also usually make my own printed papers too so that I can always be sure that I have what I want. See you tomorrow!
WOW! Is she ever gorgeous, Holley! I do all of the above, depending on the card and my design. I have some precmade card blanks but also sometimes cut my card, and use patterned card stock for layers. I almost always use a solid card stock for the base, though. xxD
ReplyDeleteLove this card.I love her hair.Beautiful.I make bigger cards 15 times 15 cm.Little depends on the ready-made pattern papers sometimes in the patterns themselves.
ReplyDeleteI too have this image from Ike's Art. I LOVE how you colored her hair - awesome! I try to use patterned paper most of the time, and cut my own paper for card bases. I have so much paper that I would feel guilty buying card bases!! Most of my cards are notecard sized.
ReplyDeleteThe way you have coloured that image is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to join in with our challenge and sharing your creativity with us, I love to see your talent, creativity and imagination at work. I hope to see more of your creativity in the near future. Love 'n' hugs Sall IkesWorld Challenges DT
ReplyDeleteA lovely card. Val DT IKEsWORLD Challenges. x
ReplyDeleteI use both types of card, pre-made and those I cut myself at home. Most of my card bases are solid but I am trying to use more patterned papers. Still have trouble combing patterns though.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful card and love that hair!! I often use store-bought card and envelopes because it's easier but I also make some of my own. I like to use patterned papers for my card base and solid colors for frames and mats.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous image and beautiful colouring Holley! I also cut my own cards - that way I can have my base card in any colour or variety of card I want! xx
ReplyDeleteSuper card Holley - love the sentiment! Shabneez x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card I use printed cardstock plus make my own backgrounds and I buy or make my own cards and they are all different sizes.
