This is not the Easter Bunny

Here's a funny image (or maybe a dark image) from SLS Lines. It's a rabbit holding a bottle of poison that he has poured on these eggs to make them disappear.  Needless to say, I don't think he's the easter bunny!  Check out this image here at the SLS Lines store, He's called Easter Bunny, Grumpy Bunny.  I added my own sentiment that says "You'll never find these eggs again."   Ha!

Let me ask this, do you all ever make cards without stamps?  I have in the past, with either gorgeous die cuts or really nice embellishments, but I don't seem to do it much now.  I pretty much always seem to start my cards with the image in mind first, then I go from the image, to the cardstock, then to finding the perfect sentiments/embellishments.  What order to you do your creating in?

Have you checked the Winner List today?  Please do!! It's getting updated frequently now, so check often and email me as soon as you see your name.  Hugs!

  1. He should be called the "Meanster Bunny"! Great image though!
I often do cards without using stamps. There are so many dies to choose from on the market and so little money! LOL I usually just go with the flow. Sometimes I have an idea where I want to start but most of the time I will just look through my dies or stamps and an idea will come to me. Other times I have a color palette in mind and start with that.
I have been known to wake up at 3am with an idea that refuses to let me go back to sleep until I have at least started on the project. So thankful that I have a Craft Room that allows me to create at any time of the day or night without bothering my family.
    See you next post!

  2. I do love her images and this one touches my funny bone! Love your coloring too. I almost always have a stamp of some kind on my cards - even if it's just a sentiment.

  5. I love your card. The image is great and I love the metallic eggs for embellishments.

I rarely make a card without some kind of stamp. I, like you, tend to make my cards around the images.

  6. I love your card - the rabbit is so serious!! :)
I love to colour the images and the rubber stamps are very important for me in cardmaking. I can't draw a picture myself at all, and using the stamps help me a lot. Unfortunately I have not a Big Shot machine to make my own die details to decorate the cards with, and I mostly prefer to decorate the cards with what I have - ribbons, glitter, buttons...

  9. I definitely have made cards without stamps. I also used card kits to do it. I find those kind of cards are very cold feeling they don't have any warmth like a hand stamped card, but that's just my opinion

  10. Funny card! Yes I sometimes make cards with just dies but not usually.

  11. I have used stamps and my dies. I LOVE the rabbit....he need to go to a tea party...lol...what an amazing detailed stamp that is, and a great card too. I love the sentiment you added lol

  12. I just love this sinister fellow! I would use him for a lot of things without his background! Cute card btw!

I actually rarely use an image stamp on my card fronts. I make them rarely, so don't even really think about it. When I do, it's something I have stamped and fussy-cut usually. I do use a sentiment stamp most times though. I will have to start thinking about what stamps I have BEFORE I start from now on! lol

  13. They did a really good job of making him look mean!
If I use a sentiment, I start with the sentiment, ususally some kind of matting, cardstock, then whatever else I will put on it. If I don't use a sentiment, I start from whatever the main part will be and go from there basically in the same order. I use sentiments most of the time, but sometimes I just like the simplicity of a nice wordless story.

  17. He'd be a cute bunny if he wasn't so grumpy! I do create cards sometimes using die cuts. I love using die cuts on my cards, especially sayings. My order of making cards is pretty much like the sytstem you use.

  24. That bunny does look mean... I create cards sometimes without stamps, wedding cards especially and baptism/christening cards, I also do iris folding cards, and a few others with just paper. I start with the person in mind, and the occasion.

  25. eewwwww - scary rabbit. Great card, tho'. I often make cards with fancy die cuts or stickers as the focal. Hard any more for me to stamp an image straight.

  26. What a fun card!!!! I always start a card with a stamped or printed image in mind...it's the best part!!!;)

  27. I really like this evil little bunny... he is up to no good but he make me laugh. I make many cards without stamped images. Gotta use up those scraps somehow. As for a process. I really have none. It is what ever inspires me at the moment.

  28. What a chuckle I got when I came to the blog today! He is one serious little ole dude. You always surprise me as I never know what you will come up with next. Keep them coming.

  32. I usually always include some stamps. I have a lot of punches and dies and now several word dies. Just have to have something stamped. Thanks for sharing grumpy bunny. Cute.

  33. Yikes! This is not a rabbit I want to meet EVER! I have made cards without a stamp, using a card kit, but I usually at least add a stamped saying.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Crazy rabbit!!! Wouldn't want to find these eggs in my Easter basket! As for card making, I almost always start with a stamp as well and find it almost impossible to make a card that doesn't use ANY stamps!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know several people this card would be perfect for:). I usually start with the background and move forward. Don't think I've ever made a card without at least one stamp.

  36. Great card. I love this bunny, I have to get him! I do make cards without stamped images. There are so many clever folds and designs possible with die cuts now. I also sometimes use punch art, especially for kids.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lovely! The image and the pattern paper go perfectly together. Your coloring is fantastic.

I always start the card by choosing colors and layout first, then papers, image and embellishments.

  38. A fantastic card Holley and a scary looking bunny. Brilliant colouring though and I love the die-cut frame.
I find I use stamped or digi images so often for promotional/DT cards that it's refreshing to make cards with an embellishment or sentiment focal point. CAS cards are the difficult ones for me x

  39. That is one sinister hare, Holley! Love it! I have so many digital images calling my name that I don't often make a card without one nowadays. When I create a card, I either start from the image or from a quote or sentiment. Sometimes I buy an image just because I have a great sentiment or quote!! Then I look at papers before I color it up. The rest is whatever i find in my craft room!

  40. What an evil little bunny I love it :)
I rarely create cards without images on them it seems I always start with the image coloured to how I like it then go from there to papers then what embellishments work with it :)

  41. My kind of bunny! I am just the opposite-I never use stamps-except maybe for the sentiment. I am stamping impaired!

  42. Wow he is some grumpy bunny.
I started making cards with quilled images and patterns and then moved onto T bag folded medallions and thence to stamped images and at the moment and for some years now I have been doing 3D (images) cards. And am having another go at Stamping.

  43. This is one creepy bunny! Coloring his eyes yellow makes him look like something that has been nuked a few times.
As far as my card making goes, I go in stages. I mainly start with the stamps, but I also like using words, die cuts, stickers or even homemade embellishments. The main thing I usually take into effect is the person I make the card for. It's hard for me to make cards for people I don't know. It's like a part of me goes into them, so I try to be as personal as possible. It was hard when I first started making cards for my daughter's unit I'm Iraq, but I finally ended up imagining myself in the shoes of the loved ones that would be receiving the cards. I make a lot for my friend's nursing home, and nostalgia, humor and religious ones usually work the best for them.
Thanks again for brightening our days with your wonderful creations!

  44. Oh my...now I will be having nightmares about this evil bunny! lol
I create in different ways...sometimes it is a visualization...and I just bring it to life...sometimes there is a reason/occassion first...such as, my Grandson, who loves fishing, will become a Big Brother soon...so I combined the two into a card...other times when I get stuck... a studio cleanup will uncover treasures and forgotten ideas. So sometimes it's an idea...or an occasion...or a newly found embellishment and sometimes there is a new technique that I just have to try!

  50. Now that my phones not dying while I'm trying to comment... I will leave my comment. Lol. I love this rabbit. He's so cool. Love your sentiment too. I mostly make cards with stamps now. It just kinda depends on my mood. But I do the same thing. I pick my stamp first. Then see what paper it goes with and add things from there.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh my! I'm not quite sure what to think about that bunny! I usually start with a stamp, but sometimes I'm first inspired by a pretty paper or a cool new color combo and will take it from there!

I'm going to check out SLS lines next. I always start my cards with a stamped image and work out from there. I'll have to try a few without stamping and see if I like making those as much. Love your card, very funny and creative. Thanks for sharing

  60. Definitely not the Easter Bunny, but a fun card! Love the bright colors in the image and the paper. The shading on your rabbit is incredible! I usually pick the image then sentiment then diecuts. I have so much paper I know I will have something to match.

  62. Hi Holley - I have made cards with rubons instead of stamps. I love to use embossing folders and die cuts on my cards. Also prima flowers.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I very rarely make a card without a stamped image. So many lovely ones out there. When I do its usually with a die cut of some sort. I used to paper piece way back before I got into stamping and made cards that way. I have no particular order. :) I think I like to create pretty much like you do, clean and simple.
