Happy Valentines Day.

Happy Valentines Babe!  Love you so very much.  You are my happiness and you always will be. I hope we get to have a nice quiet time at home like always because just being with you makes me happy.  Here's the card I made for my hubby for valentines!

Question of the day  What adhesives do you use?
For paper?  for lace/ribbon?  for wood embellishments like the "bliss" word above?

I often use plain old white glue (not the school glue, the craft glue);  for lace there is some made by Hobby Lobby for ribbon, but I wonder what others use.  Wood is very tricky to me. what does everyone else us?

Have you seen the winner list?  It's being updated daily now, CHECK HERE!
Also, if you didn't comment on Feb 1st, be sure and go back to that day to comment, prizes are still be drawn from Feb 1st and grand prizes will get drawn from there.

p.s. if you were early to rise yesterday when you posted to my blog contest, the artist was so inspired by the comments, esp one of them, she drew up a new image and Miss Rach just posted a freebie on her Blog,!  Go over and get the adorable turtle she is sharing and be sure to thank her for the freebie!!

  1. Lovely card! I use white glue too. The hot glue gun works well for wood. I use it a lot except for card making.

  4. Very saucy card and fabulous colouring :-) Hope you two have a lovely day :-D

I use wet glue - pva stuff that sticks most things. I used to use a lot of double sided tape but after a couple of months it bled through and ruined my cards !! Don't know if it's because of the weather here but I don't use it no more !! :-)

  6. Ohhh la la, what a beauty! For cards I use mostly double stick tape for paper, Aileen's Mighty Tacky for bulky embellishments (like the wood and tiny sea shells etc., red liner for teeny micro beads. For other crafts *not* paper my go to has always been E6000.

  7. Oh this is fabulous and sure your hubby loved it. I use double sided strong tape for my lace and attach ribbon on the reverse with double sided tape. I don't like using wet glue on my cards.

  10. Hi, Holley! Happy Valentine's Day! That's quite a card for hubby! I bet he loved it and that you both will be enjoying your celebration tonight hubba hubba! As for adhesive, I use ATG for paper, Ranger Multi Medium Matte for lace or small embellishments like sequins, and Crafter's Pick The Ultimate for heavier embellishments. I also use the Zig 2-way glue pen for adhering tiny die-cuts like words. And I also like Tombo Mono sometimes too. I use Scotch 3M mounting tape for my shaker cards and to pop up an image. As you may have guessed, I really love adhesive!

  12. I only ever use tape of any kind when I don't care if the piece falls apart or not. Mostly I use Aileens products. I do use elmers glue for light paper and regular card stock a lot too. I do use e6000 on metal bits though. I will use glossy accents for a nice shiny gloss occasionally too. I do love my foam tape for popping things up, but I usually add a bit of wet glue with it.

This card is fab btw! I just love those racy images you find!

  13. I use several types of adhesives. I use tape runners for my cards ( paper to paper); I use tacky glue for heavy embellishments and also glossy accents as an adhesive for somethings like metal embellishments. Ribbon and lace I usually tack on with small drops of glossy accents or a little of the tape runner depending on the material. I love glue dots for flowers but don't always have them in my stash. Hugs and Happy Valentine's Day!!

  14. Great layout on your card. Especially like the ticket with the Love You, the wood Bliss and the lace border. I use JudiKins Diamond Glaze for hard to adhere stuff like wood pieces. Other glues I use are Elmers Craft Bond Precision Tip glue pens, Tombo Liquid Glue and Tonic Studios Craft Tacky Glue. For regular light-wieght things I use cheap glue sticks.

  19. I use tape for most stuff but when it comes to tiny detailed paper stuff I use Ivy Hollow ScrapFusion spout top bottles of glue. Love this stuff and need to reorder. Can't remember where I put my refill bottle. Yikes!!!!!

  20. When I am making mini books I use my Scor-tape. For making furniture I use my glossy accents or Aleene's Turbo Dry Tacky Glue or Aleene's Wood Glue. For laces and ribbon I use either Scor-tape, Glossy Accents, Tombow Aqua or my glue gun. To add papers to my houses and buildings I either use my Xyron Creative Station or Aleene's glues. Stick It by Ken Oliver is my choice for adhering die cuts to my projects. Other embellishments are added using either Tombow Mono Aqua glue or Glossy Accents. When adding layers I usually use foam adhesive tape by Tombow or Scotch. If adding small die cut words with dimension I use my ThermOWeb Foam Adhesive! For large paper adhesion I use DecoArt or Mod Podge Decoupage mediums or Ranger Media Multi mat.
Yes, this is a huge variety of products but each has it's place in my Crafting Adventures and I couldn't live without any of them! I am known as the Adhesive Queen around here and you never want to get a present from me if you don't have nails because I don't leave ANY little spots free so that there can be no peeking ahead of time! One present every Christmas is thoroughly wrapped with Duck Tape. No one knows who will get blessed with that one from year to year because I don't put a name on it so they are left guessing to the very end! LOL
Your card today is gorgeous! LOVE the image and the lace and corset are racy!!! LOVELOVELOVE is in the Air today! TFS!

  21. Crumbs Holley, what a saucy miss! I use my hot glue gun for heavier embellies!

  22. I use an ATG tape runner for my main adhesive because it's a dry adhesive that doesn't soak through paper or take awhile to dry. I even use it on strips of ribbon. For tiny die cuts and letters, I use a glue pen. I have also been known to use a regular glue stick when I have a large expanse of thin paper to adhere. Whatever works!! Your hubby is going to LOVe that fabulous Valentine card!

  23. I am sure your hubby loved this stunning card!!
Love that sexy image and the lace is beautiful!
I tend to use white craft glue (Tombo is my favourite) for most things, also strong (red) double sided tape, but I also use impact adhesive (ie. Uhu, Bostik) for metal embellishments and wood. For temporary fixing I tend to use snail adhesive.
    xx

  25. Love the card & bet hubby did too! I use ATG or tape runner for paper to paper. I mostly use glossy accents for heavier items like the wood, but wish I could find something better.

  26. Love the card, I hope you had a wonderful Valetine's day with your hubby. As for adhesive, I find myself depending on what it is, for paper layering, I use my ATG gun the most. I also use tombow glue for most chipboard and embellishements, glue dots for the small ones, and of course I have to have dimensionals on almost every card, the pop dots, oh and for boxes and stuff I use score tape.

  27. well hubby will love that im sure and is it modelled on you?

  29. Happy Valentine's day Holley!! Beautiful card! Regarding adhesives,I use Beacon 3 in 1 and Scotch quick dry

  30. Very sexy cards. I use so many different adhesives. The Rubber Cafe makes a great glue and works will but it remains a little sticky... you can make your own glue dots from it. Then there is the dry tape adhesive. Love that for travel.

  31. Wow, what a spectacular Valentine, and that hottie looks like quite a handful! I like to use the Tombox adhesive runner because it's small enough to keep on hand and is quick and easy to use.

  32. I just knew you'd have a sexy Valentine's card for your hubby Holley and this one is fabulous. The image and corset look amazing and the heart lace is so pretty.
If not using foam pads then I tend to use Anita's (white glue), except for paper and ribbon. It works fine with lace. I use double sided tape or 'red tape' for paper and ribbon xx

  33. I love the lace you added to your card. So pretty. I tend to use the ATG and the Ranger Multi Medium Matte. Sometimes, Beacon glue. It just depends on the project. I love the MMM because it's strong and it dries clear. No shiny mess look on my card.

  44. IWhat a cute and sassy card. I need to make more cards like this, you have inspired me to do so. I use tape runners and double sided tape for paper. I also use glue dots for some embellishments. I use tacky glue, prepositional glue at times for some embellishments too. I use binding adhesive for wood veneer and metal. Happy Valentines day Holley.

  45. This is a wonderful card for your hubby! I'm sure he loved it! :) Me and my sweetie usually don't celebrate Valentine's day. We actually give each other small gifts through all the year, at random days, so we have "Valentine's day" all year long. :)
I use a lot of double sided sticky tape on my cards. Also hot glue and ordinary Uhu stick glue. For lace I often use Glossy accents or Mekol, and for wood I just love Mekol (I *think* this is something like Elmer's glue in the USA). "Mekol" is a liquid glue for wood, paper etc. and it's awesome for gluing down those wooden embellishments. They never fall down when I use that glue.
    Hugs! xx

  46. Hi, what a gorgeous sassy image with beautiful colours. I use PVA glue on almost everything, not used a lot of wood, but I would say a hot glue gun would work.

  48. So beautiful valentin card - your hubby loved it for sure :D. You colored the image very well. I often use tacky glue (for small embellishment, or wooden elements) and hot glue gun for bigger embellies (f.e. 3D flowers), double sided tape for papers, also for some ribbons.

    ReplyDelete
  49. A saucy Valentines, love all the different elements you have used. Great card, hope hubby liked it :)

  50. Hi Holley - I use glue dots for the small wooden embellishments. Stampin Up came out with a new paper glue last year, which I use for tiny die cut embellishments.

    ReplyDelete
  51. For adhesives, I've always been very partial to Zig glues in pens. Or the ones from Creative Memories. If not needing glue, then I use Tombow tape runners, those have worked well for me for years. Have never even tried anything on wood. And I have some of the ribbon glue for using on ribbons. Keep up the good work!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Love your card, I use multiple glues, my favorite is zip dry glue.

  53. Holley, your hubby isn't going to let you out of the house once he sees your card! Gorgeous! And thanks for the heads up on the freebie from Miss Rach!
I use Dots for the most difficult textures to adhere things with; my tape runner for most everything else, and dimensional tape for, well, dimension! LOL

  54. Wonderful Valentine's card. I use several types of glue. For lace or hard to hold things I use Beacon Adhesive Fabric Tac the glue is very thick so what I use to thin it out 100% acetone you can get at a beauty supply store but only use a small amount and you need to turn it so it mixes real well not cheep but last a long time. The white glue I use is Scotch quick dry, Scor Tape, glue dots and Martha Stewart ballpoint tip glue pen.

  55. This card is very racy. Great Valentines Day card for a man.

    1. John is so lucky to receive so many of your cards. You seem to gravitate towards images with lots of character four him.
I use tons of different glues, but that's because I buy lots of them at their stores & I try to use them up as soon as possible. I've been able to find a lot of CTMH tape ringers lately. I do swear by the Scotch glue for most of my non-paper embellishments.
