Question of the morning: what types on non-craft stuff do you use for crafting?
I see crafty supplies in everything lol, every time I look at something I am decomposing it and thinking about what I could use from it. I was just wondering what you all use....things that come to mind--paint cards, tiles, sequins, I go to a lot of garage sales and craft reuse stores and look at all kinds of things...
Stay tuned for a card later this afternoon.....
NOTE: If you didn't leave comment on Feb 1st, please go back and do so as winners will get picked from there everyday! CLICK HERE. Also winners have not been picked from the 11th through the 16th yet if you haven't commented on those days. Check the winner list HERE.

Hi Holley this is a gorgeous card I love it. I use kitchen roll that I have used to mop up ink. I dry it separate the sheets and glue them to card. They make fabulous backgrounds. It is an idea I got from John Lockwood. Have a great weekend. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteLove the digi and card.... I have used actual fishing wire, hooks, lewers, leaves, coins, and toilet paper haha. I emailed my entry 👍
ReplyDeleteVery elegant hippo. Fun card. A little bit of fabric goes a long way, leaves, flower petals, paperclips, empty cereal boxes, used tea bags. Hugz
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty card? Delicate and hippo aren’t usually in the same sentence, but in your card they are. I have use paint cards, sequins, and fabric, but tend to stick with traditional supplies.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Love this fun image!
ReplyDeleteI love to add tiny cloth pins, laces, sequins, buttons etc.
Adorable card!!! I do the same thing. Everything is or could be used. So I study it and see if it could be used in anyway.. If its a yes then most likely ends up in my stash. Since I do mixed media.. It really can be anything from any metal, cardboard, plastic pieces, jewelry, and even the bag oranges come in. Love going to yard sales to find goodies.
ReplyDeleteFun card! I have used cereal boxes, colored tab from soda, paperclips, buttons, paint color samples.
ReplyDeleteThis image it just too cute. I'm always looking for things to use on my cards. I've taken jewelry apart in order to get a charm or some such thing. I love finding new ways to use paint samples.
ReplyDeleteJust adorable stamp!
ReplyDeleteThere aren't too many things in my world that aren't craft fodder! I'm always looking for things for my collection of Mark making items. Particularly squares and triangles. Lots of bits of packaging and lids in there!
This is gorgeous, love the sweet hippo and lace.

What an adorable card! A hippo ballerina is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!
ReplyDeleteI use most anything for crafting! Repurposed jewelry, packaging, kitchen utensils work great for adding texture, pretty candy wrappers can be awesome backgrounds or even die cut, feathers off cat toys, pretty fabric is another background idea, old candles can be melted onto a project and left as is or used as adhesive for embellishments.
Egg shells add awesome texture and can be colored. They give an awesome crackled effect or shattered glass.
The netting bags that some fruits come in and dried coffee grounds are great for adding texture.
Slightly damp toilet paper embossed with folders then dried look amazing! You can use either plain water or your colored sprays to spray the toilet paper with for different looks.
These are just a few of the non craft items that I use to create. I have found that my “craft” supply items is only limited by my imagination! Go shopping in each room of your house and see what you can add to your crafty toolbox! Happy shopping and crafting! TFS!
This is really cute card, love it :)
ReplyDeleteI am not using a lot of things from everyday life on my crafts but I definetly should!
Cute image. There are sime adorable images out there. I guess i dont use a lot of non crafting stuff on my cards. I have so much card supplies
ReplyDeleteReally cute, Holley! I have stenciled with some items around the house like mesh bags that veggies come in and I have cut apart jewelry gift boxes for the shiny or velvety insides that I can punch flowers from. I get a lot of promotional magnets in the mail which I cover with pix of my grandkids and furkids using the Xyron adhesive machine. That is about all that comes to mind. I recently started cutting my Lang calendars to use as designer paper.
ReplyDeleteCute card!! I have used beer bottle caps, a pocket off a pair of jeans, and several other things.
ReplyDeleteYour card is very beautiful .I love this image.
ReplyDeleteFrom egg shells I made a mosaic to photo frames and magnets.
50/5000
I use toilet rolls, coffee pods, old books, garments of turkey buttons and ornaments.
Hi Holley- cute ballerina hippo! I use buttons, seam binding for ribbon, yarn, charms, heads, etc. mostly just craft supplies. Audrey R in Austin
ReplyDeleteI use many things from around the house, string, yarn, pipe cleaners, straws, old book pages, cheesecloth, mesh bags, old calendar pages, beer/soda bottle caps etc
ReplyDeleteA fun ballerina. I use many things such pill bottles to make paint circles, fabric, old jewelry, and more.
ReplyDeletethis is such a beautiful card love the image. I use anything that can be recyled like cereal boxes i use for chip board.
ReplyDeleteI like to use packaging for some of my crafts and my kids use all kinds of household stuff to add to their crafty projects, from paper straws, to yarn and labels.
ReplyDeleteAnother adorable card design! I love cute critters. Let's see, I pretty much use anything that can be glued to a card and not add too much weight or bulk. I use cereal and cracker boxes to die cut for tags, and various cardboard packages to decorate as gift packaging. I also re-use ribbon and twine, and even clothing tags.
ReplyDeleteI just love this hippo! And all the pink
ReplyDeleteyour hippo is very cute! I have used a few different things on my cards, e.g. tabs from cans of drink, pieces of wallpaper and buttons to name a few!
ReplyDeleteso cute card!
ReplyDeleteoh I use anything I think I can use :D
Oh I just love her! So pretty in pink, Holley. My entry coming soon. I've used Paper towels, used dryer sheets, bread bag tabs, mesh veggie bags. Nothin's safe when I'm around. LOL xxD
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable Holley! I use all sorts of things for crafting, mesh bags from fruit are useful as are tissue (either toilet or kitchen), egg cartons and so much more! xx
ReplyDeleteLove your ballerina and all the pink, Holley. I use packaging for clear windows for shaker cards, dryer sheets for texture, paper bags for journal books, coffee boxes as Kraft paper, and all kinds of "junk" for stamping with my Gelli plate.
ReplyDeleteCute card. I use lots of non-traditional items in Scrapbooking. I use lots of ephemera especially on travel pages. I also incorporate items from needle crafts and wood crafts.
ReplyDeleteMost of the items I use on my cards are standard craft goodies, like stamps and dies but I also use pretty packaging and boxes for chipboard shapes. I save shiny foil papers from candy boxes and wrappers to re-use in different projects and also things like aida cloth and burlap.
ReplyDeleteShe is pretty in pink:) and I use packages to make shaker cards and cardboard to make things more rigid. Jewelry bits for bling. Paperclips too . Any shirt or pants that are on the way out those buttons get saved for sure and shoelaces new ones get used too
ReplyDelete. Hugs Nikki
She's adorable. I don't tend to use many embellishments because my cards are CAS, but do use sequins occasionally xoxo
ReplyDeleteSticks, bark from trees, flattened sections of the blooms from the palm trees, fishing lures, interesting rusted junk, anything is fair game with me!
ReplyDeleteI like using aluminium foil, expecially embossing it and coloring with alcohol ink. and Shaving cream.
ReplyDeleteFAbric lace, canvases, burlap, and such like that.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a gorgeous card Holley, so pretty in pink. I'm not very good at reusing household stuff but always save pretty ribbons from gift boxes. Cathy x
ReplyDeleteI love the vivid color of your paper and your coloring of Ballerina Hippo is awesome. I like to use whatever if find around the house or whatever catches my eye at the store. It could be netting from a bag of onions, a set of plastic colored file tabs or an earring whose twin has gone missing. Anything goes when it comes to crafting!
ReplyDeleteYour hippo reminds me of a book my son and I read when he was little called Hilda must be dancing. It is a sweet book about Hilda dancing and shaking up the jungle and disturbing the other animals. You got me on today's question becasue I can't think of anything...LOL Maybe it is the head cold.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! Using bread tags, cereal boxes, rubber bands too.
