Thanks Doctor!

One of the most important things this month of course is to say a HUGE Thank You to my favorite Doctor, Dr Sami Aboumatar of Austin Epilepsy.  He's the doctor, (epileptologist), who first told me he would "fix" my seizures and then actually did.  I can't tell you how many doctors told me they would help me before.  He's a brilliant Doctor and a wonderful man.  What amazing work he does.  I will never cease to be thankful to him and his staff.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Do you make handmade Christmas cards?  I realize I have many good friends who aren't Christian, so it's helpful to know if you make them or not.  I also know several people don't care to make Christmas theme cards for whatever reason.

For me, it's just overwhelming and after doing handmade Christmas cards for the family and promptly seeing them thrown in the trash, I started giving them store bought Christmas card again.  At any rate?  Christmas?  yay or neigh

see the current winner list HERE

I haven't picked winners for Feb 2-Feb 4th, so if you haven't left a comment on those days, go back and leave one to be in the drawing!

Have you signed up on Feb 1st?  prizes are drawn from there every day this month, so be sure to leave a comment there!  GO THERE

  2. Your card is cute with the doctor who hands out meds and a teddy bear! Awwww.... We are all so very thankful to this doctor for what he was able to do for you! Wow...just amazing. Thank God for wise and compassionate health care workers.

I do make handmade Christmas cards....but most of my best ones go to my crafty friends!! I know they will appreciate them. I so know what you mean abt seeing the card go into the trash. My favorite Christmas crafting supplies are ones that are Christ-centered. But for friends who aren't Christian, I also use winter holiday greetings. They can be just as beautiful and don't have the religious overtones.

  6. I'm making christmas cards and I've started sending. However, I have the same feeling as you Holly, that it is a pity for them because they are about to throw them out. But making these Christmas cards gives me pleasure, so most of them go to auctions for sick cats.

  8. Fabulous card and three cheers to your doctor! I love the little band-aids. I make Christmas cards all year. It gives me pleasure to make them. They're like any gift, you can't help what the recipient does with it once it's given. :)

  10. What a perfect card to celebrate your amazing doctor! I have started making more of my Christmas cards, but still use “store bought” cards for the bulk of them. I make all of my Christmas thank you cards.

  11. Holley - that is such a cute doctor card! Stamping Bella, of course. I send handmade cards to some of my stamping friends and store bought to others. But, XMAS stamps are not anything that I need more of.

Yes, I make Christmas cards. This year I mailed my cards early and received cards with thank you notes saying how they look forward to my card every year. It's fine if the they don't keep it, as long as they enjoy it for the season.

  21. Hi Holley
I love to create cards or tags at Christmas, to embellish gifts for friends and family.
You received the greatest gift with the care of the doctor who made you get to celebrate 12 years of recovery.

  22. I love that you honor and thank your doctor every year, and credit him and his medical for giving you back you life! Most of my cards at Christmas are photo cards of my family but I also make some for family, teachers, special friends, and to donate to the women's shelter in town.
My cards are not religious, but are rather whimsical or general Christmas or winter themes.

  36. This Doctor card is adorable! A good doctor is a thing to treasure for sure! I just met a new one in our new home as well! Dr. V-Jay is going to be in my life a long time.

As for Christmas cards, I do not. I put together a huge pile of lovely paper pieced nativity cards one year, and saw them thrown out. I was heartbroken because they took hours and hours to create.

  37. Cute card. I love to make Christmas cards. I try to start earlier in the year so it's not so overwhelming.

  38. Great card for your Doc. It is so satisfying when you find a great doctor who you can put all your trust in.

  39. I like your doctor card, and such a great way to say thank you for all he's done for you! I do enjoy making Christmas cards and I am definitely a Christian. However, I don't tend to make traditional Christmas cards with nativity scenes or Baby Jesus as many of the recipients might not have the same beliefs that I do. Therefore, my Christmas cards feature gingerbreads, snowmen, and cute critters. I am hooked on Gingerbreads (gingerbread people, gingerbread houses, gingerbread cookies, and Christmas cookies) so if you have any of those, please think of me :-)

  40. That oddball dr is so cute and yeah for Dr Sami Aboumatar and his staff. So glad he was able to finally help you, and long may you remain healthy. I love Christmas cards, but I don't tend to make traditional Christian style ones. I love cute and fun snowmen, santas and animals. For me Christmas is a celebration of family and friends so sending cards is something I love to do. I hope they don't end up in the bin too soon, but I know some will. I hope a few get kept and treasured. Or even upcycled. Hugz
