If I only had a brain

Here's a fun Magnolia image of her as a scarecrow. I had to add a classic sentiment that goes with the scarecrow, "If I only had a brain."  Then, I printed out my own paper in the background using a great brain image from Ike's Art.  I gave this card to my Epileptologist, the one in charge of my brain surgeries right before Halloween along with two trays full of mini brains for his whole office at Austin Epilepsy.

Here's some pictures of the Brain Candy, and I made some fun brain sentiments with the Ike's art image on the top of the containers.

A day later I actually got a nice thank you card in the mail from the office.

Autumn Love

Here's a fun Pumpkin theme card using the cutest little kitties from Tiddly Inks. I just adore this sweet image.  I am using pumpkins in my image, pumpkin printed paper, pumpkin bling, and a pumpkin shaker.  How much more pumpkin can you get?
Have a great pumpkin day everyone.  Let me ask, do you like to eat pumpkin?  do you have a favorite pumpkin food (other than pie)?  The other day I had pumpkin cheesecake gelato.  Other than that--hmmm, this season I have had Pumpkin bread, pumpkin walnut bagels with pumpkin cream cheese, pumpkin chocolate bar, pumpkin caramels, oh, pretzels dipped in pumpkin choc., of course, pumpkin pie....that's all I can think of so far...

How about you?  what pumpkin things am I missing out on?

Kitty Queen

Here's a great image from Sweet Pea stamps artist Zorimar Lezama called Kitty Queen. I created this stair step card which you can see below standing and on the following image how it folds to fit into a  A2 sized envelope.

Each step on this card has a great sentiment from Cosmo Cricket.  "Dear Thoughts, be happy" "Dear Joy, let's get together." "Dear Self, I know you can do this."  I also added some cute buttons in oranges to match the shimmery cardstock from Paper Temptress.

I hope you adore this cutie!  She's a fun image for all those teen or tween aged girls in your life.  Be sure and check out all of Zoimar Lezama's images at the Sweet Pea store.

All the papers in this image come from Paper Temptress, the base of the card is from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest.  It's cut out using a wonderful die from Spellbinders.  I am then using two shades of gorgeous Mica/Metallic cardstock as my accents, Flame and Azaela.  Finally I layered the image and fussy cut it with an additional layer of Basis Black behind it. It really helps the image POP right off the card.

Grandma Rules!

Here's a fun combination of a Sandra Caldwell image from Sweet Pea stamps with gorgeous papers from Paper Temptress.  This stamp is called Grandma Rules.  I colored her up with Copic markers in fun pink colors with a  sweet hat.  Now that I have colored her the first time, I think it would be totally adorable to do her in purple with a red hat.  I can't wait to see someone create a card with her in those colors!

All the papers on this card are from Paper Temptress.  The base is brown bag cardstock, cutting an 8.5x11 sheet to 5.5x11 and folding it in half to make a square card.  On top I used a beautiful Hambly Overlay called Magenta Brocade.  You get this sheet when you buy the Hambly Overlay package #1. These packages are absolutely great for cardmaking as you get 6x6" pieces of many different sheets and they are perfect sizes for card fronts.  The bright pink and brown paper is a specialty paper from Hambly Screenprints called Mod Circles.  They also sell wonderful packs of Hambly Screenprints in the 6x6" packages.  I printed out the image on Heavenly White and cut it out with a Sizzix nestability.

The above card using a tree image from Darice and some leaves that I cut from a memory box die.  I printed out all three of the owls in a small format so they would fit the size of the card and added a cute owl saying.

Merry Creepmas

Here's a fun image that I got from The East Wind for a Facebook Contest. It's a combo contest between The East Wind and Simply Betty stamps.  (You'll get to see my Simply B card tomorrow). I love that they both made some Christmas images with a little attitude.  I called this image "Merry Creepmas"

Do you like the green and purple bling?  I made those using perler beads.  I don't know who originally came up with that idea as I have seen it multiple places, but I finally decided I would get my hands on some and melt them to make my own dots.  I found these cool dots that had multiple colors and made the ones above.

Let your heart speak

Here's a stunning image from Sweet Pea stamps artist Ching Chou Kuik called Hello Magnolia that I added with gorgeous papers from Paper Temptress today to create this beautiful card.  I embellished with simple border punches and wonderful sequins.

The base of the card is a beautiful orche color called Tuscan Sun.  I added some navy cardstock called Blue Basis on each side and used a Martha Stewart border punch.  I printed out my image on Neenah Solar White Classic Crest paper and layered it on Basis Black. Then I trimmed out the image again.  The sentiment is from Cosmo Crickett.

I think this simple card turned out very elegant and she's just perfect for those forlorn teens as well as friends who just need a friend's touch.

Handsome Pirate

Here's a great image from SLS Lines, this Pirate is one handsome man.  I used one of the newest card die cut sets from Sizzix to create this foldout card.  Here's the front of the card which I embellished with this Tattered Lace die cut and pirate flag charm.

Inside the card stands up and you can see the Handsome Pirate from SLS Lines.  How fun is that?  SLS Lines has several other great pirate images to go with this set as well as a paper collection that matches perfectly.  Here I added some Bling which also seemed so appropriate for the topic.

Thanks so much for dropping by.  Check out the latest challenge over on the SLS Lines blog and keep and eye out for the new challenge, which will begin on Oct 12th!

Dia De Los Muertos

Dia De Los Muertos will actually start tomorrow on Nov 1.  Are you familiar with this holiday?  Having grown up in San Antonio, TX, I am.  It's actually very similar to a day celebrated by many Christians called All Saint's Day.  Dia de los Muertos in English, Day of the Dead is a celebration, but also a very respectful day for those who have passed.  It is a day of remembrance for all the family and friends who are gone.  In many cultures a table is set up with photos and beloved articles of the deceased person along with candles and gifts.  People gather and tell stories and visit the graves to leave their loved ones offerings which they believe will prevent the dead from haunting them. Overall is very much a celebration of the people who have come before you.

I hope you love this stunning image from SLS Lines today, she's called Day of the Dead Calaveras Girl. Such a beautiful image.  Be sure and check out her other awesome stamps over at the SLS Lines store on Etsy.  Also, we are having a fun Challenge over on the SLS Lines Challenge blog, click the button that says Challenge on the SLS Blog, and join in the fun with us, we'd love to see your creations.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Happy Halloween!!  They are having a fun Halloween posting over at SLS Lines today, so I am sharing the stand up card that I created using this voodoo man.  I thought he would be just perfect for the holiday.  It's a stand up card using a template die cut set from Sizzix.

I hope you have something fun planned for the day.  We'll be staying around the house and handing out candy to the kids.  Most of the churches in my area are having a "trunk or treat" event, so it's hard to say if that will draw a lot of kids down our street or have them only go to the local churches.  Let's hope at least some kids come by because I have 8 pounds of candy!

Have a great Halloween
