Dia De Los Muertos will actually start tomorrow on Nov 1. Are you familiar with this holiday? Having grown up in San Antonio, TX, I am. It's actually very similar to a day celebrated by many Christians called All Saint's Day. Dia de los Muertos in English, Day of the Dead is a celebration, but also a very respectful day for those who have passed. It is a day of remembrance for all the family and friends who are gone. In many cultures a table is set up with photos and beloved articles of the deceased person along with candles and gifts. People gather and tell stories and visit the graves to leave their loved ones offerings which they believe will prevent the dead from haunting them. Overall is very much a celebration of the people who have come before you.
I hope you love this stunning image from SLS Lines today, she's called Day of the Dead Calaveras Girl. Such a beautiful image. Be sure and check out her other awesome stamps over at the SLS Lines store on Etsy. Also, we are having a fun Challenge over on the SLS Lines Challenge blog, click the button that says Challenge on the SLS Blog, and join in the fun with us, we'd love to see your creations.
