Have a Sunshiney Day
We have been very fortunate to have some cloud cover recently that brought our temps from 105 down to 95; Funny when you go outside at 95 degrees and think it's cooler. But the clouds were great and we managed just a little rain too!

Gothic Girl
Got lots of great things done today including stopping by the University art store to pick up a couple more Inktense pencils. I got Chili Red, Ionian Green, Peacock blue, Red Violet and Baked Earth. They are all nice earthy tones that go together well and will also compliment the colors I already have. Generally when buying pencils in the beginning, I like to get two complimentary shades, i.e. two shades of red, two shades of blue....and so forth. That allows one shade for coloring and at least one color for shading. I often use more than one color when shading an image, but when starting to build up supplies I get two of any particular color.
Project Materials:
Cardstock: Bazzill; Stamp: Gorjuss Girls-Sugar Nellie; Flowers: Prima; Brads-Making Memories; Color: Derwent Inktense; Copic Marker: E00;
P.S. don't forget to vote for your favorite card of the week in the column to the right!!
A Smile that bursts
The new week is here! I hope your weekend was great. I have started a new poll on the right hand column to pick a card of the week for last week. I hope you will take a second and vote for your favorite card. The voting helps me narrow down the topics and styles that people want to see. Please go and vote for your favorite. I have also added sentiment under each card. You don't have to add comments to select how you feel about the card, but your comments are welcome.

Blog Candy Alert!
The winner will be selected from my followers, so sign up to be eligible.
Cheers! Holley
She's a Star!
I love the contrast of the blue and yellow in this card. I think the partial blue background makes the blue coloring in the dress stand out. I don't have a large star die cut, in this case I simply used a pen to lightly draw a star on the back of a piece of cardstock and then cut it out. Flipped it over and glued it to the card. I used a souffle pen to outline the star and the remnants from the cutout to give the edges some interest. This is another example of a very flat card that would get past the post office without complaints.
Project Materials:
Card (Bazzill); Carstock (DCWV); Stamps (Gorjuss Girl-Sugar Nellie; Saying-Hero Arts); Ink (Versafine); Color (Derwent, Crayola watercolor pencils); Souffle White pen; Copic Marker E00

Just Being Myself

RAGDOLLS!
Here's my first card done with the set. I just love the dolls in this set as wells as all the wonderful sayings. You will definitely see more of this set in the future.
As an aside the secondary goal of this card was to make something that's perfectly flat. I love to put the beautiful flowers, dimensional tape and other such accents, but I have also had problems mailing these cards. I have noticed that the post offices differ in their processing. I have one post office that will run their hand over your card and if they feel the SLIGHTEST bump--you get jacked up to package rate! Another has the post office standard mail slots cut out of plastic and they will simply stick it through the slot, as long as it goes through their test slot, it's considered "flat". I don't know why the standards are so different, but package rate for a card seems ridiculous at $1.22 for the first ounce. So, here's an example of a perfectly flat card that will pass any post office test.
Project Materials:
Cardstock (Bazzill); Stamps (Ragdolls-TAC); Coloring (Stampin' Up watercolor crayons); Edging (Colorbox chalk ink-chestnut Roan)

Charlotte KETTO
I did this card by taking two compatible shades of Bazzill Orange papers. The top layer I used a Fiskar's punch to create a border on both sides of the paper. Then I used Colorbox Chalk to lightly outline the edge. The stamp is done in Versafine ink with Stampin' Up watercolor crayons. The princess word was a rubon, but I don't know whose. The Charlotte Ketto stamp comes from Stamping Bella.
Have a great Sunday!

I'll fly away
There's one new "thing" about this card. A change in my coloring....can you tell what? Hopefully not, as I didn't want the change to be too obvious.....
I started using my copic marker to color in the face/arms. See the difference now? I was never 100% happy with the way the skin tones would come out when watercoloring the faces, but I was also concerned about mixing the copics and watercolors in the same project. I like the subtlety of the watercolors which can be a contrast to the coverage you get with copic markers. But, I think they look fine together, what do you think?
Project Materials:
Cardstock (Bazzill); White pigment ink (stippled onto the cardstock to create clouds); Stamps (Gorjuss Girl - Sugar Nellie; Saying - StampaRosa); Sheer iridenscent vellum (unknown); Derwent Watercolor/Inktense pencils; Copic marker #EOO Skin white;

Gorjuss Set #3
As I am sure you can tell from my blog, I really tend towards warm colors: reds, oranges, browns, and such; I am trying to make myself get away from always using my "comfortable" colors and use other colors (and color combinations) sometimes. Today I went with purples and pinks together.
Project materials: Cardstock (Bazzill); Paper (DCWV); Flowers (Prima); Stamp (Gorjuss girl from SugarNellie); Epoxy brad (Making Memories); Watercolors (Derwent Inktense); acyllic pebbles (adhered with glue dots); Buttons/ribbon (unknown)

Magnolia 2
Lately my favorite technique has been watercoloring the stamped images after stamping. I use a waterproof ink when stamping, my personal favorite is Versafine by Tsukineko; I stamp many images at once and set them aside so they will have sufficient time to dry. I usually give them a day or so. I have never had problems with running when I do that.
I have a lot of watercoloring tools including watercolor paints, pencils, and crayons. I love the crayons for coloring directly on the stamps; But when coloring in stamped images, I prefer to use watercolor pencils. My favorite pencils are Derwent Inktense. I don't think these are meant to be watercolor pencils, but they are water soluable, so they work for that purpose. They are much softer than any other watercolor pencils so I like the ease that they blend together. I also like that I can color in a single color, wet with a blender pen, then add more color with another pencil. As you can see from many projects, I love the results I get with these.

Cardstock (Bazzill); Stamp (Magnolia); Vellum saying (unknown); Brads (Provocraft and Making Memories)
