It's Blog Candy month

I am having a HUGE celebration this month--Feb will mark one year following two brain surgeries. This time last year I was horribly sick and at the end of my rope. I met a new Doctor in November and at my first appointment the man told me I needed to have brain surgery. Needless to say, I was devastated and totally overwhelmed. My stamping friends and blogging buddies where a real lifesaver for me. You guys rock! I got so much wonderful support and an outpouring of help from so many people.

In Feb 2010, Doctors did two surgeries eventually removing a large portion of my left temporal lobe. The results have been remarkable. It took a couple of months to heal, but since then, I have made a amazing recovery. I have been truly blessed with NO seizures since. Not only no seizures, but also no headaches, no eye pain, no day to day sleepiness, so many problems that I had before all went away. I can go outside everyday now, work out (I dropped 70 pounds!) and I am back in wonderful health. In mid Feb, I will hit my 1 year seizure free period. For that, I want to give back to you all!!

Contests will start with the first posting in Feb and will continue through-out the month. As postings are made, many will clearly state if there are prizes involved, others may also have prizes and some will just have surprises!! I have wonderful prizes from Sweet Pea Stamps, The Paper Temptress and Squigglefly PLUS a ton of wonderful brand new goodies from all sorts of companies like Basic Grey, Magnolia, Making Memories, Jollees, Little Yellow Bicycle, Hampton Art Stamps and more!! I will send prizes all over the world!! I will keep a tally of prizes (you are eligible to win more than one) and will mail everything out at the end of the Blog Candy month.

ARE YOU READY?

Stay tuned then....the first candy posting will come soon. Be sure to read each candy posting game and follow the rules for each game.

Hugs all!

The Seahorse

After I loved the last round stamp so much, it inspired me to get even more of these beautiful round shaped stamps from artist ching-chou kuik of Sweet Pea Stamps. These stamps are stunning artwork and fit beautifully using Spellbinder's Nestibilities as backgrounds. The stamp used in this card comes from a sheet called "The Seahorse". I wanted to make her hair look like the water so I used copic markers in four shades of blue to color her hair. Then, I used a dark brown copic markers to color in the background of the stamp, as well as the leaves and the outfit of the maiden.

I chose a wonderful saying from Plate #24 that says, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller" I added two adorable brown hearts, metallic burnt gold border-punched paper, and a few buttons to coordinate with the color of the seahorses; these buttons make the seahorses in the image pop out of the design.

Be sure to scroll down a few entries and read about the HUGE blog candy celebration that will start on Feb 1st!

Hope you have a heartfelt day!

I'm nuts about you!

Here's an adorable squirrel card for Valentine's day! I think this image is so cute, but I am curious if squirrels like peanuts. Where I am, there are two acorns types and pecan trees (in my neighborhood--if you go elsewhere in the city, you'll see all other kinds of trees). Here, the squirrels pretty much stick to the pecans given the choice, but I will see them go after the XL acorns from the tree in the backyard. Those nuts can be the size of a small egg!Project Materials: Cardstock (Archivers, Bazzill Bling, Neenah); Ribbon (Michaels); Rubber Stamp (Whipper Snapper); Buttons (American Traditional); Ink (Memento); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue Dots, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers); Die Cuts (Spellbinders-Nestabilities);

Pretty in Pink

I love using a monochromatic color scheme on cards and I thought pink would be perfect for Valentine's Day with this beautiful stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps. I selected a wonderful stamp from ching-chou kiuk called Seeing Through (Plate #42). You can tell from my color scheme how different the image looks than the artist's depiction on the website.I used Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut out some specialty paper to frame the image after coloring it with copic markers. I used a whole pink family R81, R83, R85, R87, and R89 for most of the red/pink highlights on the image.

To complete the Valentine, I added a wonderful verse from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; the saying comes from plate #17. The luscious flowers come from Queen and Co. The cardstock I used is from Bazzill and the cute borders are from Doodlebug.

Hope you have fun making Valentines for your loved ones!

Wanna Cuddle?

Here's one of Kraftin' Kimmies wonderful stamps. I love this lady and her cat. Makes me wanna cuddle, though I must confess that I know better than trying to pick up my cat and hold her in that manner. You pick up my cat and she will let you know quickly that she doesn't like being held. She doesn't mind sitting on your lap, but that's when she wants to, you can't just pick her up and carry her around. I guess cuddling is just left to the DH. Happy Valentines Day thoughts to all of you!Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill Swiss, Neenah, Hobby Lobby); Rubber Stamps(Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps); Border (Bazzill); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Diecut (Spellbinders-Nestabilities); Brads (Bazzill); Flowers (Prima); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers);

Squigglefly challenge: Green, Silver with Flowers

Here's a cutie that is part of a Squigglefly challenge week. The challenge was to make a card using green, silver and flowers. I had an adorable image called Don't be Scared. This cute design is from artist Susan Spiller, you can order this stamp straight from their website, download it immediately, then size it to the exact size you want. I did mine using Microsoft word then printed it out straight onto 100lb Neenah paper with my laser printer. Would you like the play in the challenge contest? you could win a prize Click here to read about it: Squigglefly Challenge This card is also using stunning papers from the Paper Temptress, wonderful!! I used some beautiful Emerald green Mica paper, some bright white (Heavenly White) paper, and some stunning almost textured looking silvery paper called Laser Silver Lustre. These papers go together beautifully to make this card. While checking out the Squigglefly site, look at Susan Spiller's other stamps and if you like the stamp I do, I must also say, take a peek at artist's Cheryl Alger's designs...you are gonna see some of her stuff soon!

Introducing: Izzie

Here's Izzie from Stamping Bella and she has some flowers to share with you to wish you all a very happy happy day! What a beautiful red dress for Valentine's day. I am still on my kick for making Valentine cards. Hoping for some much needed warmer weather soon. I can't wait to get back outside into some sunshine. I find my limit for walking is about 50 degrees. Anything colder than that and I am an unhappy camper!Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill Bling, Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Izzie and a Daisy-Stamping Bella; Saying-Hero Arts); Ink (Memento, Studio G, Colorbox Chalk); Border (Doodlebug); Die Cut (Spellbinders-Nestabilities); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots); Color (Copic Markers); Orange Bling (Recollections);

Here's a sweet girl from Whipper Snapper stamps holding her teddy close to her heart. Love isn't Purrrfect....

Here's a cute little stamp from Inkadinkado. I always thought this statement was a bit funny, "Love isn't purrfect." Seems like if you love them, it is perfect for you. Love can conquer all, if it doesn't then it may not have been true love. I guess life is never so black and white as that. Often the problems of life are the variety of people and things that compete for our love and attention. Sometimes just because we love someone doesn't make our family always deal with that. Then it is a competition between our family and our new love. Well, just thinking out loud. I guess this cat and mouse will have a lot to deal with in their families and friends, lol!!Project Materials: Cardstock (California Paper Company, Neenah, AC); Rubber Stamp (Inkadinkado); Ink (Memento); Color (Copic Markers); Buttons (Grandma's Button Bag); Punch (EK Success Border Punch); Adhesives (Glue dots, Pop Dots, Glue All);

You make my heart sing!

Continuing down the Valentine trail, here's a new stamp that I love, it's from Tickled Pink and is a girl dressed in her 50's outfit. Her name is Lilith. She just wants her man to know "You make my heart sing!" What man wouldn't if he was giving you rubber stamps? OK, maybe it takes more than rubber stamps to make your heart sing, but it sure is a good start.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill Swiss, DCWV Metallic, Neenah); Rubber Stamp (Tickled Pink-Lil Lolita); Ink (Memento); Ribbon (Fire Mountain Gems); Vellum (DCVW); Bling/Embellishments (Recollections); Color (Copic Markers); Die Cuts (Spellbinders- Nestabilities);

Photos

OK, you wanted to see, lol.....you can't even see all the stitches on the back side here, but it goes down the center of my forehead, around to the back of my skull and comes out the front of my left ear!! 81 staples. After about 2 weeks, they just yank these suckers out. UGH!

I used to have over 3+ feet of gorgeous long brown hair. Before christmas, I cut off over 2 foot of it and donated it to Locks of Love, who make wigs for people with hair loss.

Here's me now: You can't even see the scars unless you are really looking!! (you can really feel the indentions on my head though)

Enjoy the day!

Wow, who would believe we are now in 2011? Here's a cute stamp from Penny Black to celebrate the occasion! I love this stamp set as it makes me think of the Mimi stamp line from Penny Black, but I want to say this set is called Betsy Bluebell. Hope you all have wonderful hopes and dreams for the new year!

As for me, I pray for continued wonderful health that I have been seeing since surgery last year, no seizures, success at reducing the medications (which should start in February), continued work out sessions, no headaches, no cancer, healing for family members who recently lost their mom/grandma, successful adoption for my soon to be niece/nephew and happiness for all of us!! Hugs.
