The Best Hug

Here's my card for the Squigglefly weekly challenge. The challenge was to use only scraps for the card, so I had a huge stack of off-cuts, thin strips of paper when I trim, esp the beautiful specialty papers as I hate to throw those away, so I decided to weave them together and make my own card from them. Well, it's been a great month! I so appreciate everyone following along with the whole month in celebration with me. I can't begin to say how wonderful that I feel and how blessed that I am. That's the whole reason that this celebration has taken place. It started with a horrible spot in my life (lol, and in my brain) that a miracle of a doctor and a surgeon fixed. Fast forward to where I am now, in amazing health and happiness. Live Life to the Fullest

Here's a great stamp from CC Designs Sweet November Twisted Sisters called Caladium. She's so pretty. I thought she went wonderfully with the vellum quote that says "Live Life to the Fullest." I also thought that saying was a wonderful way as this month comes to a close. It's been a really great fun this month, more than just this month, but especially this month to celebrate with all of you!!

Later tonight I will write up the rest of winners, including the winners of the grand prize and several other prizes which include some stamp sets and other goodies. La La Land's Rosie has a Blog Candy question....

Here's an adorable stamp from a company that I like called La La Land. How can you not love them just because of their name? This cutie is named Rosie. I colored her up in reds for spring, which it is looking more and more like here in TX. I am really loving the weather lately and enjoying it everyday. Here's an adorable Teddy Bear from CC Designs. Don't you just wanna hug this one? I used a cute saying from Kraftin' Kimmie--"Friends make life Bearable!" Oh so true. All my blog friends have been so wonderful--this month and always! That's why I am having this huge celebration, to share my happiness with all of you after such a big life changing event. Big thanks to all the prize winners who have been emailing me, I will be in and out of town, so I am slowly getting back to each of you.

All Tangled Up

Here's an adorable kitty from Whipper Snapper. As do most cats, he loves playing in the yarn and eventually ends up all tangled in it. The appointment with Dr Aboumatar went well and the first of the medications was reduced yesterday! He and his staff were both delighted to see the printout with everyone's comments. It came out to over 28 pages worth!! I think they will be really touched as they read what all of you had to say! I also took them some wonderful valentine treats (oreo balls, yum!) and a box with handmade cards. My DH, also a craftsman, handmade Dr Aboumatar both a pen and a carved bowl that he turned himself using Cedar of Lebanon.

Today's a wonderful day full of a lot going on. Here's a wonderful Squigglefly card using a great image called Dance Partners. I always did (and still do) love dancing. I guess my partner is still a teddy bear because my DH is not one for dancing. Queen Kat Stamps -NEW BLOG CANDY

Here's a great introduction to a wonderful company that I will be a designer for, Queen Kat Stamps. I love the beautiful AND the quirky style stamps that they have. This fairy is definitely on the beauty side. They have a huge array of stamp designs and I just love the variety. I was so excited to be chosen by them. To make this card, I used wonderful papers here from The Paper Temptress.

Here's a highlight that shows some detailing of the paper (check out the red columns and the texturing on the black ruche). I added some great spritz that I got in Vanilla that I added to the background. I think it just makes the fairy look like she's on the air.

I'm nuts 4 U!

Here's a card I made using a cute quick kit from K&Company. I just loved the stitching on this card. The kit came with several other items, but I didn't care to use them on this card. Instead I added the adorable squirrel and his heart says "I'm nuts 4 u!" Hope everyone is enjoying the fun of this month. I have been enjoying reading everyone's wonderful comments on Feb 1st. I know the Doctor will be so surprised when I share those comments with him on monday.Yesterday's drawing was won by.....AK Stamper!! Happy Valentine's Day with Sweet Pea

Here's a wonderful Sweet Pea stamp from artist Caron Vinson called Blushing Rose Fairy (Plate #89). I thought this beautiful woman would make a wonderful Valentine. You can see the artist's depiction and then see the coloring that I have done to her to make her into a Valentine.

I used some wonderful printed glittery cardstock from K&Company and spiced it up with some chalk on the edges. I added some adorable polka dot Prima flowers with some dark red bling and used one of the great vertical sayings from Plate #13 called Holiday Verticals. That stamp plate is only $12 and gives you 10 different full size veritcal sayings! What a bargain. I trimmed mine out on thick white cardstock and used a border punch from EK Success to add some pizazz.

One of today's lucky commenters will get a beautiful Sweet Pea stamp as a prize (random selection, announced tomorrow)! Here's another sweet Valentine!! I love you BEARY much! This sweet stamp comes from CC Designs and the funny saying is from The Angel company. This adorable little girl is one that my husband bought me at christmas time. So cute! Now...ready for somemore blog candy?

HedgeHog Love--More Blog candy quest

Here's the cutest little heart shaped card with a pair of adorable little hedgehogs. Such a sweet little couple that I had to include them on this valentine card. I think ground hog day yesterday made me think of them.

So, for a prize today, the question is, how many staples did it take after surgery to reclose my head? I will tell you that they cut from the left ear all the way to the back of my skull up to the top and around to the center of my forehead. So the size opened would be larger than my hand, at least 1/3 to 1/2 of my head. After the 2nd surgery they used large metal staples to close the skull back together; (and no, they give you no pain killer when they yank those suckers out of your head!!) Add a user comment to guess the number of staples that it took......

Let the Fairy in you fly!

I love this beautiful stamp from Sweet Pea stamps designer Lisa Victoria. This adorable fairy is holding a sweet little dragon. The name of this stamp is "The Butterfly Dragon" (Plate #72). I added a wonderful saying from Plate #24 that says "Let the little fairy in you fly!" I used some beautiful printed background cardstock and added some weaved ribbon on top with some orange ric rac on the edges. I added beautiful flowers layered with red, white, and orange flowers to match the color of the stamped image.

Lisa Victoria has some adorable stamp images featuring dragons with a sweet little fairy. I hope this card inspires you to let the fairy in you fly!!

Blog Candy Game 1: Doctor Thank Yous....

YEAH! Feb is here and the blog candy games are starting today! The first thing I want to do is have a THANK YOU contest where everyone will leave a comment that is a short thank you to the DOCTOR who saved me. His name is Dr. Aboumatar. He is the owner and specialist (Epileptologist---i.e. a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy) of Austin Epilepsy Clinic. It's a long and complicated process from the first doctor's appointment to the actual set of surgeries that were done. It's amazing how detailed and how much testing happens before the neurosurgeon even comes into play. The Epileptologist actually maps out the entire location in the brain where the neurosurgeon will perform surgery. HUGE thanks to Dr. Aboumatar! He's an amazing man who in 5 short months totally changed my life. I have had a dozen doctors spend years and years saying they would help me and never do anything like this man did in 5 months. I'll tell you he was at the top of my christmas card list this year!

For this Blog Candy Contest, I am asking that everyone add a comment to THANK Dr Aboumatar for all his hard work at helping Epilepsy patients (especially Holley). I will say that he has also just helped a wonderful woman that I know named Stefani who had very similar surgery to what I had. I can already see the difference in her since her surgery in December!! I would love to get at least 100 thank yous for Dr Aboumatar by Feb 13th. And YES, I am gonna print these out and take them to Dr Aboumatar so he can see them! I want him to know how appreciated his work is and that it touches people, not only me directly.
