A Pirate's Life for me....

Here's an awesome Sweet Pea stamp from artist ching-chou kiuk.  This stamp is Pirate Skeleton Roses.  Just Gorgeous!!  I couldn't wait to get my hands on it when it became a digi stamp, but it's also sold on a sheet of rubber (Plate #126).  I am using some die cut embossed skulls across the bottom of the card and some gorgeous lace from Turkey to embellish the card, but I really think the image itself takes center stage.  The Thinking Of You stamp comes on Plate#98.

Here's an enlargement of the stunning image.  As you can see, I am coloring the heart, the roses and the maiden's dress in the same colors of Copic Markers R81, R83, R85, R89.  Having the same color pattern on multiple locations in your image draws the eye across the image.

Hope this cards makes you check out the wonderful images of artist ching-chou kuik.  She has some gorgeous stamps including other pirate themed images as well.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, AC, Neenah);  Digi-Stamp (Sweet Pea Stamps; Saying- Rubber stamp); Ink (Colorbox Chalk. Memento); Bling (Recollections); Die Cuts (Spellbinders);  Lace (Istanbul, Turkiye); Color (Copic Markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue dots, Glue All, Ribbon Glue);

Dream of far away places....

Here's a gorgeous Fairy Stamp from Queen Kat artist Regan Kubecek called Dream Fairy.  What a gorgeous image.  I am in love with a bunch of this artist's designs. She's got some delightful angels and fairies.

What far away places are you dreaming about?  lately I have been going through photos of my vacation in Istanbul and getting ready to work on the scrapbook.  It's one of those "oh so big" projects that's it's been filing several bins of storage and makes it seem like a daunting task...but just one "site" at a time and it floods back wonderful memories.

Project materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah);  Stamp (Queen Kat); Ink (memento); Saying (JoAnns); Word (Making Memories); Flowers (Prima); Brads (Basic Grey); Lace (JoAnns); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue all, Glue dots, Ribbon Glue); Color (Copic markers);

Here's a gorgeous stamp from Tiddly Inks.  I love this artists stamps from both her digi-site as well the rubber stamps she has at Stamping Bella.  I added a simple sentiment here "Inspire"  Don't we all need just a little inspiration every day?  What do you need inspiration for?  art? crafting?  how about some inspiration for peace? hopefulness? faith?

Space Explorer

Here's a totally awesome Sweet Pea digi-stamp from artist Joanne Schempp called Alien.  I have colored this image completely different from the artist's coloring, so, be sure and go check out the original image so see how very different the image looks here.  I used a coloring for the planet surface of Copic YG91-95, as well as adding a very greenish tinge to the moon.
I added a saying from Sweet Pea "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.  It is the source of all true art and science.  Albert Einstein."   I find that saying so fitting in this scene.  That lace across the bottom is some of the gorgeous lace that I picked up while in Istanbul on vacation.

If you haven't tried the awesome digi-stamps, I highly recommend them!  This image from Joanne Schempp is too gorgeous.  Next time, I am thinking about doing "the Red planet."

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Bazzill Bling, Neenah);  Stamps (Sweet Pea); Ink (Memento); Lace (Istanbul, Turkiye); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Ribbon Glue); Color (Copic markers);

Simply Batty for you

So, everyone who knows me does know that I do so love Halloween theme.  I really like the images from Simply Betty stamps.  This cute girl I think can be used year round, I didn't quite make her totally Halloween like, but I do love the bat theme dress with spiders to boot!  (and oh, those spider earrings)  As you can see, I also layered this card with a fun clear layer on which I stamped some bats to match the bats on her dress.  Too cute!  This card uses stunning papers from Paper Temptress.

Here's an enlargement of a small portion of the card so you can see the clear transparency with the white ink stamped on top of it.  It goes so well with the sheer ribbon and wonderfully textured black cardstock in the background.
The base of the card is using textured back cardstock called Black Felt Grandee.  It's a wonderful heavy cardstock for the base and a simple brush with white ink as shown here give a beautiful highlight of its texture.  The white cardstock is Heavenly White which works great with Copic Markers. The image is stamped onto the cardstock and diecut with Nestabilities.  I think added a layer of transparency which is held in place with the sheer ribbon.  To stamp on this layer I used Stazon White ink.  Fabulous.  I also think the Transparency would look great with some diecuts that are glue-dotted on it (on both sides...look out, new idea coming).

Hope this card gives you some great ideas and maybe even some Halloween (or not so Halloween) inspiration.

Cheers, Holley

Holley's Variation Week

So each month during the second week, every artist at Sweet Pea stamps creates a card using the same stamp.  I really enjoy this week because it gives so many great ideas on how to use the same stamp with different styles, different coloring, and different techniques.  It's a real insight into all the different things you can do with a single stamp.  This month the group is using a wonderful image from artist Elisabeth Bell called Little Curls.
I did a very simple layout here using a wonderful monotone technique of all greens with the coloring of the little girl using Copic Markers BG11-BG18 and tan pants E30-E31.  She's so adorable.  Those cute bling are very nice fairly flat stickers from Sticko, they give some great shimmer and are still flat enough that they are easy to mail.  The cardstock is a wonderful shimmery green color.

Be sure and drop by the Sweet Pea blog and check out all the other artist's uses of this exact same stamp to see what other great ideas they have using this image then check out the wonderful sales at the Sweet Pea store.

Cheers, Holley

Be sure and check out Regan's other stamps (and she has some in digi format too), I personally love the Angel Wings stamp.  So gorgeous.  Putting that one on my wish list for sure!!

So Awesome

So, as I mentioned yesterday, this week is my husband's birthday so I have several cards I am showing in some love and birthday theme.  Here's a little cuppie cake fairy from artist Mo Manning.  Isn't she adorable.  I added a cute sentiment from Basic Grey "So Awesome!"

Who's ready to go get a cupcake?  I did ask my husband what he wanted for his birthday.  Cupcake was not it, but he did mention cookies, so I definitely plan some baking in my immediate future.  He deserved a very happy birthday this year.

Project materials:  Cardstock (Bazzil Bling, Bazzill, Neenah); Image (Mo Manning); Border Punch (Martha Stewart);  Flag(Basic Grey); Die Cut (XCut); Twill (Doodlebug); Color (Copic Markers); Ink (memento, Colorbox Chalk);  Adhesive(pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots);

Happy Birthday John

So I made this card for John's Birthday using a super sexy image from Squigglefly. I am also using this card to join this week's Squigglefly Challenge.  The challenge this week is to include a pocket.  My version of the challenge this week was to add a glassine mini envelope on my card as my "pocket."  Inside the pocket I put some sweet items called pocket tokens for my hubby on his birthday....these hearts are double sided and embossed they say "Want U Now", "I'm Hot 4 U" and "GR8 Lover"  too cute.
This image is from Squigglefly and is called "Here's to You."  Just gorgeous.  I hope this card makes my husband smile today.  I also hope it gives you some good ideas for this week's challenge over at Squigglefly.  Be sure and check out the Challenge Blog to see more samples from their design team and then create your card.

Pretty Fairy

So, here's a gorgeous fairy stamp, I got this stamp because I was on Facebook one day checking out some other crafter's blogs and I saw a Fairy image on a header of a blog.  I left a comment that I just loved that fairy and did they sell that image as a stamp?  The owner gave me a link to her store and told me if I just wanted the fairy by herself, she could make me a stamp of just the fairy.

After a few Facebook messages back and forth, I was able to check out her store and see two images that I just had to have!!  They were both wonderful fairies in scenes, and she sold me just the fairy images.  Here's one of them called Kneeling Fairy from Stamping Dragon Designs.  Not only did the owner do the image for me, she did it in just a few minutes and it only cost the same as all her other stamps one British Pound (so USA about $1.63).  WOW!  Stunning image too.

So I made this cool card as my husband's birthday is right around the corner (it's on wed) and I thought he might just love this adorable card just for him....
I would recommend you check out this artist's store as my experience with her is TOP NOTCH. It's called Stamping Dragon Designs. Their prices are excellent and you can download your stamp from their site as soon as you paypal your $.  They also have a reasonably active Facebook group that you can check out.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah);  Image (Stamping Dragon Designs); Ink (Colorbox Chalk); Bling (Michaels); Stickers (Little Yellow Bicycle, Sandy Lion);  Banner (K& CO); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots); Die Cut (Nellie Snellin); Color (Copic Markers);

A Spring Halloween

 Here's a gorgeous stamp from Sweet Pea artist ching-chou kiuk called Halloween Trio.  As I am sure many of you know, I am huge on Halloween theme, but I think this image can be used on other times of the year too. It's just a gorgeous image.  I colored the maiden in pink and then added pink flowers.
I added a wonderful Sweet Pea sentiment to the card.
Here's a gorgeous closeup of this stamp that is available both in Digi format as well as Rubber stamp form.

as a cute add on, I got these awesome skeleton brads from Jolees to put in one of the flowers.

Who says you can't use those awesome Halloween images in Springtime?  certainly not me.

Cheers all, Holley

Blog Hop from Heartfelt Creations and Paper Temptress

Here's a fun 6"x6" card that I created using amazing paper from Paper Temptress combined with fun die cutters from Heartfelt Creations.  Heartfelt Creations sells their own line of spellbinders type dies and has awesome matching stamps that fit perfectly.  You can see two of their gorgeous cutters below.  What's great about the window die cut on the image below is that it actually opens up!!  The product is called Decorative Chateau Gate die and comes in a set with an additional gate/window die and two ivy die cutters.

The gorgeous die in the background that I linked together in each corner also comes from Heartfelt Creations in a die cut set called Perfect Petals, which includes the die shown above, as well as a collection if different sizes of flower petals.

Here's a close up image of the opened window, I put in a flower that I stamped and created using one of their stamp sets.  I think this window would also be great to use on the front of a card as an opening to show the inside of the card. You can see inside the window, I have use a stamp set from Heartfelt Creations called Perfect Petal Medley Precut set (I am using the smallest stamp in this set), along with the smallest die cut in the Perfect Petals die cut set.

Here's a slightly different angle photo to show you the great detail in this window die cut as well as the die cut that I used to create the beautiful frame around the window.

Here's a front shot of the card with the window opening.  The gorgeous papers here are all from Paper Temptress.  The orange cardstock is a bit darker in person, but shows up lighter due to the camera flash, I think of it more like a light pumpkin color, it's called Tangy Orange Pop Tone.  The Brown cardstock that I cut out the Window die cut is Hot Fudge Pop Tone.  The white cardstock in the background is heavenly white. I simply trimmed the white cardstock by hand to go directly behind the window image, I thought it really made it standout and it gave me a place to mount the flower inside the window opening.  The black cardstock is Basis Black

Paper Temptress does sell a small assortment of 12x12 paper in Basis colors, however, I didn't have any.  Here's what I did, I took my 8.5x11 paper and cut it into 6"x11" then I added the extra inch that I needed with a gorgeous strip of Tangy Orange.  Thus when you open the card, the bottom layer on the card is an orange stripe.  I could have also chosen white or the brown cardstock that I used or even added something like a border punch to the inside card base.  It's a great way to add flair to the card and make it look oh so wonderful when you are missing that inch of cardstock. Or as I like to say, that's exactly how I planned it! which in this case, it really was.  In other cases, you could also just make a 5.5x5.5" card, but for the gorgeous die cuts, the card needed to be 6" square.  Just my thoughts on the creative process.

Hope this card inspires you to check out the fun cutters and stamps at Heartfelt Creations as well as the awesome papers at Paper Temptress.

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Paper Temptress); DieCuts (Heartfelt Creations); Rubber Stamp (Heartfelt Creations); Ink (Memento); Flower Stem (Jolees); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All), Flower Center (Sticko);

Paper Temptress and Heartfelt Creations will each be donating a $25.00 gift certificate, so to enter to win either a $25 Gift Card from Heartfelt Creations or a $25 Gift Card from Paper Temptress make sure you leave a comment on each of the DT's blog. You could be one of the two winners (announced May 15 on Paper Temptress and Heartfelt Creations Blogs)--UPDATE---I just got word that Heartfelt Creations has upped their prize to an entire set of their Sunkissed Fluer Die Collections, WOW, now they are giving away a $160 PRIZE...leave comments on every blog!!

Hope you are all having a great week in May, odd enough be we have been setting record cold temperatures last week.  I guess we should be loving that now as soon enough we will be in the 100 degree range.

Cheers, Holley

Squigglefly Challenge

Happy Monday everyone!  You know that means it is time for the Squigglefly Challenge this week.  The challenge this week is to go Monotone.....Monotone means that you are creating a card based on a single color using all your embellishments, papers and other goodies with the same color.  In my card here of course, it's Brown, which is, one of my favorite colors.  Rules state that you can color your image, which I did, but I used all browns!  However, you can color your image however you like, but to play along, I did my image in a monotone theme too.  This adorable image is called Window Bear from artist Diana Carubia.

Check out the other examples from Holley's Hobbyists over at the Squigglefly Challenge blog and then jump on in and play along.  Make a fun mono-tone theme card with a colored image.

All the gorgeous papers I am using today are from Paper Temptress, the image is printed on Neenah Solar white.  This cardstock is perfect for printing out digital images, runs through my printer easily and I let it dry many extra hours (even though ink seems dry as soon as you print, when coloring with Copic markers, it's really good to give it more time).  The textured background paper is Canyon Brown Skinny Columns.  It has the best lined texture. I added just a hint of ink on the edges to highlight that fact.  The great die cuts (from Marianne Crafts) are done out of Kraft paper, also called brown bag cardstock.  Don't they go perfect here?

Project Materials:  Cardstock (Paper Temptress); Image (Squigglefly); Diecuts (Marianne Crafts); Ink (Colorbox Chalk); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All);  Color (Copic Markers);

Guest Artist: Patti L

Here's a super cute card in my favorite colors.  Even more special, this artist used a wonderful stamp that she received from my during the Feb celebration (the thanks stamp shown above).  I had seen this adorable card on her blog (CLICK HERE) and left her comments about it only to be surprised by getting that very card in the mail soon after.  How awesome is that?

Thanks so much for the adorable teddy bear card.  Wonderful work.

Cheers, Holley

The Cow Jumps Over the Moon

here's a cute little card that I made with a brand new stamp that was just released at Squigglefly this week called Flying Cow from artist Daphne van der Zanden.  The Challenge on there blog this week is create a card "Odd Man Out"  so use odd number items on your card.  For example on my card below, I am using 1 image, three layers of paper (two borders plus the base), three ribbons, three buttons.

Of course seeing this cute image makes me think of the cow jumping over the moon, so I used some great cardstock that is boy themed and printed.  Would make a perfect birthday card for a boy or baby theme card.  Drop by the Squigglefly Challenge blog this week quick, as there is only today and tomorrow to enter the contest!!  Monday a brand new contest will start with my team, the Holley Hobbyists.

Project materials:  Cardstock (K&Co, Hobby Lobby, Neenah);  Image (Squigglefly);  Ink (Colorbox Chalk);  Lace (JoAnns);  Buttons (BoBunny);  Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue dots, Glue Lines, Ribbon GLue);  Color (Copic Markers);

Dolphin Kiss

Here's a new gorgeous Digi-Stamp from Sweet Pea artist Joanne Schempp that is available in digital format called Dolphin Kiss.  I just love this gorgeous image. I colored up the mermaid and left the water where she is swimming a tone lighter than the rest of the water.  Wouldn't it be fabulous to be swimming with the dolphins in the ocean?
I finished off this card with some lovely lace and some silver bling followed by some turquoise bling as well.  Be sure and check out the other stunning stamps from artist Joanne Schempp.  Sweet Pea sells them in both rubber stamp and digital stamp format.

Have a great weekend.  Cheers, Holley

Also, winners have been posted for everyone who played in the Scrapbook Place contest, do drop by and see if you name is on the list! http://yourscrapbookplace.blogspot.com/ email me your address if it is!! htondre@aol.com

Tutti Fruitti

I just love this cutie from artist Sherri Baldy. I knew I had to get this stamp when I saw those "over the knee" socks.  Totally my favorite.  Can't say that I own any in purple, but I sure do own a lot of them. This cute girl is called Tutti Frutti.  You can find all Sherri's images at Scrapbook Stamp Society.
