Paper Temptress Easter Card

So I picked out my favorite bright spring colors and a wonderful easter theme image to make a lovely card using beautiful papers from Paper Temptress. The base of this card is Orange Fizz. It's just a great bright and playful color! I colored the shirt of the girl and the color of the bunny she is holding to go with the papers.
The image is printed on Heavenly white, the background is diecut from heavy duty wonderfully thick based Lemondrop 100 pound cardstock. I die cut them with Lifestyles (formerly Quickkutz dies); I added some great punched borders using from loose paper leftovers (that's why we always save those cutoffs) in Neenah, punched with a Martha Stewart border punch.

The image on this card is called Polly and Butterscotch from artist Cheryl Alger of Squigglefly. The challenge this week on Squigglefly is "Anything Goes" so this card qualifies and I am going to sign it up. Hop on over the the Squigglefly Challenge Blog and enter your own card. If you don't have a Squigglefly image, grab a freebie from the Squigglefly Website to play along. The freebie does count and you can win a prize for using it!!

Project Materials: Cardstock (Paper Temptress); Image (Squigglefly); Punch (Martha Stewart); Die Cuts (Lifestyles); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers); Ink (Colorbox Chalk); Buttons (Grandma's Button Bag);

Sing me a song...

I had a couple comments yesterday about the card I made and I had colored her eyes to match the color of her outfit. Purple or Violet being a very unusual eye color. I must say I can't think of anyone I know or have every met with that eye color. My husband of course had pointed out to me that Elisabeth Taylor was famous for that eye color, but I honestly can't say that I ever saw her though and noticed that. I do think violet eyes look good there and in this card here, so I do often choose to use that color.
Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, DCWV); Image (Tickled Pink); Flowers (Prima); Brad (Making Memories); Punches (Martha Stewart); Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Color (Copic Markers); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All);

Prizes from last week were mailed out to Sandra and Charlene today. Enjoy.

Lili of the Valley

Lets start this week out with a wonderful card using a fun stamp from Lili of the Valley. Isn't she adorable? This card is my orange special (even though I added a yellow butterfly). You can hardly see it here, but in orange chalk, the words "Celebrate Spring" are stamped on there. Ahhh, I almost feel like winter was spring and TX is fast approaching summer. I think I am getting a sunburn already being outside, but I still want to stop and smell those flowers.
Half the prizes from last week's blog candy have been mailed--Snoopy, Rhonda, and Angelicawa (Karissa)--your goodies are in the mail! The rest will go out soon...if you need to send me your address, htondre@aol.com You can see who won on Friday's posting to check if you were a winner!!

I was sitting in the back of church on Sunday because I was operating the computer (that projects the words onto the screen for the congregation) and had a church member come up to me right before service. Her eyes were a bit watery and she told me that she lost her son (in the mid 80s) because of his Epilepsy and seizures. That when she heard what was happening to me she prayed very much for me. I of course hugged her and thanked her dearly and let her know that I was doing wonderfully and just celebrated 2 years post surgery. I am so glad that people can see what happened to me and that medical technology is there and changing all the time and God gives miracles all the time.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Lili of the Valley; Saying-Queen Kat); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Die Cuts (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Ribbon (Doodlebug); Flower (Prima); Brad (Basic Grey); Butterfly (PrimaDoodles); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue Dots, Glue All, Ribbon Glue); Color (Copic Markers);

He's too darn cute to get mad at. Please check friday's posting to see if you won a prize--there's a couple winners that I need to get an address from--email me if you won--htondre@aol.com!

Eighties Girl...

Here's a great image from artist Heather Valentin of Addicted to Stamps. She's a very 80s Madonna image called Material Girlie Lil Ragamuffin. Too cute! I decked her out in red and oranges, though as I recall in the 80s, you would mostly be wearing black and only black. So anything this colorful would so NOT be acceptable in the teen scene.
Yesterday I emailed out all the prizes to people who won Digi stamps including Heather M, Glennis, Glo, Trish, Pat, Lisa A, and TerriAvidReader. If you didn't receive your image, drop me an email and let me know (or check your spam), htondre@aol.com

Angel Baby

So after being the one who created the Challenge on Squigglefly yesterday, I decided I just had to make a card to add to participate, so here's my entry into this week's contest. This adorable Digi-stamp is from Squigglefly artist Diane Carubia called Angel Baby Girl.
This card is also being featured on the Paper Temptress blog today using their stunning papers including the Heavenly White that I printed the image on. The wonderful blue is called Blu Raspberry. The brown is a wonderful textured ruche called Cocoa Crepe. The "printed" paper (per the challenge requirements) is this luxurios white shimmery paper in the background which has a stunning texture and will absorb ink and show any color beautifully, it also is great for stamping on. However, I just had a handful a small slivers of it, which was PERFECT for this card, so I whipped out my punch and used it here. (This is why I always save those edges of that special paper!). That paper is called, Vintage Silver Lustre. There's a coupon code you can use in the right hand column with a link to the Paper Temptress store!

Hope this card inspires you to create something fun for the Squigglefly Challenge this week. You can check out their store for a freebie and play in this week's contest.

Squigglefly Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you are ready for a new week! We are starting out this week with a brand new Challenge at the Squigglefly blog. This week's challenge is called "Follow the Recipe." There's three things you must do to your card to follow the recipe: 1) it must include a clip (paper clip or other, colored or metal); 2) must have a flower (s); 3) must use printed paper; So, here's my creation, I used a wonderful Squigglefly image from artist Fawn Palmer called "Hohum." Too cute, huh? I added a sentiment that I had in a set of stickers from Hobby Lobby. She looks just lost in thought. Perhaps she is thinking about what a wonderful day she has had and what she's looking forward to tomorrow....So drop by the Squigglefly Blog and participate in the challenge this week! Don't forget, if you use a Squigglefly stamp, you are eligible to receive a prize.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, DCWV); Image (Squigglefly); Ribbon (Michaels); Sticker (Hobby Lobby); Paper Clips (Dollar Tree); Bling (Hobby Lobby); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All, Ribbon Glue, Glue dots); Color (Copic Markers);

Eye is on the Sparrow

Here's a beautiful image from I Brake for Stamp for Sunday. Isn't she just sweet? She's holding a tiny bird. The words "His eye is on the Sparrow" comes from both a well known hymn and as a reference to a bible passage where Jesus talks of God knowing and providing for all, even the birds, so why do we worry so about him taking take of us? His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me. You know, I find this funny to see what I wrote and know how stressful this week has been for me. Despite being prayer filled, it's also be tormenting and worry filled too. Guess sometimes I just need to listen to my own words and remember that His Eye is on the Sparrow, huh?

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Stamps (IBFS); Ink (Memento); Die Cuts (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Cross (Mirror Hobby Lobby); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue dots, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers);

St Patricks Day love...

Here's one of the newest stamps that just came out and she's a real keeper! She's designed by artist Joanne Schempp and her name is Irish Chick (see here). Isn't she just adorable? I think this stamp as some real attitude and would be great for all kinds of cards. You could even not ink up the shamrocks around her if you wanted to use her on a different day.
Hope this St Patrick's Day cards have you in the mood to put some Green on and make some holiday themed cards. Next week, I will have another Sweet Pea St Patricks day card to share.

Cheers, Holley

It's my sheepish sense of humor!

Here's my Squigglefly card for the current contest this week. This week's challenge was Spring is in the air. I think of Easter and flowers, of course, that brings to mind sheep and shearing, as they grow their wooly coats over the winter and are cut in the spring. This sheep here looks ready for a hairdo.
Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill Bling, Neenah, Hobby Lobby); Image(Squigglefly); Saying (Computer Generated); Brads (Making Memories); Ribbon (Michaels); Die Cut (Lifestyles formerly Quickkutz); Color (Copic Markers); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue All);

You and Me

Here's a stunning image from Sweet Pea stamp's artist Merdith Dillman. She comes from Plate #98. She's just amazing. I colored her in reds with a light tan highlights. I had some beautiful printed paper from American Crafts that went perfect with the coloring. That turned this card into a love theme card.I used some sparkly cardstock behind the image, but could have also taken some plain cardstock and used some spritz on it to make the background sparkly. Then I added some beautiful roses and a chipboard heart. I added some transparent decor that say "you & me" and will give this card to my husband for our upcoming anniversary.

Here's a close up of the image I added a very light hint of blue on the feathers of the wings to give the shading but to still keep the coloring very light and airy. I think this close up also lets you see some of the shimmer on the background paper that is very visible when you see the actual card in person.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Paper Temptress, American Crafters); Rubber Stamp (Sweet Pea Stamps); Ink (Memento); Die Cuts (Lifestyles); Flowers (Recollections); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue Dots, Ribbon Glue, Glue All); Chipboard (Studio 8); Mesh (Hobby Lobby); Color (Copic Markers); Saying (Hobby Lobby);
