Blue Skies....

HELLO!! Hello all! Just wanted to put in a quick note to let everyone know that I have gotten back from the serious surgery and I am home again. Thanks so much to everyone for the wonderful messages and well wishes. (Feb 19th 1pm)

Well as spring approaches (I wish it was coming faster), I decided to make a cute card with pretty birds. "Wishing you Blue Skies and Sunny Days" Makes me think of that song "Blue Skies" It has been recorded by 50 different artists (really--look at Wikipedia) but the version I remember is Willie Nelson as my mother loved Willie Nelson so she played it when I was a child.Project Materials: Cardstock(California Paper Goods, Neenah, DCWV); Stamps (Birds-Inkadinkado; Saying-); Color (Copic Markers); Ink (Mememto, Colorbox Chalk, White Pigment); Tools (Sponge Dauber);

Paper Temptress Card

Good Morning all. Just wanted to show you some fun paper that I got from the Paper Temptress today. A couple of weeks ago I used this paper to make an Owl card. It's so neat because the ink actually absorbs into the paper behind the columns. This time I wanted to use the same paper and ink it up to color it the way I wanted. In this case I used the white color and inked it with Colorbox chalk pads in orange and brown.

I cut it out with Nestabilities and embossed it. I mounted it onto the Cherry cardstock. Then I added another layer of Nestabilities that I had stamped with a cute Inkadinkado stamp.

I mounted all the parts onto some beautiful brown paper called Columns Canyon Brown. I finished off the card with some wonderful Prima flowers, brads and a heart shape brad framed on some Black Grandee paper.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Paper Temptress-Neenah Classic White Solar Crest, Cherry cardstock, Black Felt Grande, Laser white glossy lustre and Columns Canyon Brown); Stamp (Inkadinkado); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Brads (Making Memories, Paper Studio, Bazzill); Nestabilities (Scallop Rectangle); Color (Copic Markers); Pop Dots;

Sunday Angel Card

Time for the Sunday Angel card. Today's sentiment comes from Romans "May the GOD of hope fill you with all joy and peace...so that you may overflow with hope..." May we all have hope in the coming week.
By now the doctors should have completed both surgeries. Big thanks to everyone for their support and their prayers. Love you guys!

Love Is....

Here's one of ching-chou kuik's Fanasy Art stamps from plate #22. I paired it with the "Love is" quote from Plate #17. It makes a beautiful Valentine or just a nice way to say "I love you" to someone special. Today is also my sister's bday, so let me say "Happy Birthday, Honey!!"

Here's a quick tip for adhering ribbons to an odd surface like this one: I took two ribbons, a black ribbon and a thinner red ribbon. Because the card is corrugated, it would be hard to attach the ribbon directly to it. I cut a thin strip of paper just a little smaller than the black ribbon. I used ribbon glue to adhere the ribbon to the paper strip and then glue the red ribbon on top of the black ribbon. I could then use regular adhesive to attach the paper strip to the card.

Project Materials: Stamps (Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #22 and #17); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Heart Brad(Bazzill); Round Tag(Stampin' Up); Cardstock (DCWV); Color (Copic Markers);

Where's my Sweetie?

Where's my sweetie bear? Well, here he is! Enjoying some ice cream. I love this cute whipper snapper stamp. Make me want some ice cream right now. I really love the way the shading turned out with the copic markers.

I would have loved to put something in the background of this card, but all the papers and such I tried really looked too busy to me. Either that or they really took away from the teddy bear image. I should take a class on layering, lol!

Paper Temptress Teddy Bear

I did some playing around with the wonderful clear sheets sold at the Paper Temptress. I decided to color one up using Alcohol inks from Ranger. I used three different colors: Wild Plum, Cranberry, andCaramel. I started by gently dropping the ink onto the clear sheet.

The fun thing is--if you get too much of one color in a certain area, all you have to do is add a different color. The second color drop will displace the first color. That is why you see the colors so clearly and there's blending of colors into a new color. Once completed, I let the sheet dry overnight. It seems to take a while to dry completely.
Now that we have this fun paper, what to do with it? Here's a couple of my ideas. I used a portion as a card background. I adhered it to white cardstock so the color would show. I adhered the clear paper very well, in the center only so there would be no glue lines showing on the card.

Another fun thing to do with this decorated cardstock is to stamp ON it. In this case, I stamped up this cute bear on Neenah classic white solar crest paper and color it with copic markers. Then I stamped the same image on my decorated clear paper. I cut out the heart and adhered it to my bear with a glue pen (carefully on the edges so you can't see the glue);

This card also uses beautiful sparkly gold paper, see a detail image of it below. This paper really shines in the light. It's amazing! The name is called "Gold Sparkle"

Project Materials: Paper (Paper Temptress- Clear sheet, Neenah Classic White Solar Crest, Black Felt Grandee, Gold Sparkle); Rubber Stamp (CC Designs); Ink (Memento); Color (Copic Markers);

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's a beautiful card using one of the Sweet Pea fairy girl stamps. This comes from Plate #23; You can get to their store by clicking on their banner in the right hand column.

Remember those old cartoon stripes called "Love Is..." We should all stop and think about what love really is. I love this verse in the Bible that talks about love. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails.

Love Lives Here

This funny girl comes from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. I love her quirky style. Love lives here, in my heart. Today's the BIG day...off to brain surgery. I have a feeling I will be feeling like a pin cushion today. I've already had two days of shots and two blood tests this week (that's before getting to the hospital).

I have set up the blog to post great crafty creations every day while I am in the hospital. I hope you love all the cards. I can't wait to see your great comments. I also hope to check in periodically and leave word. When I do, I will post it on the blog since that is where everyone checks daily. Cheers!

Cards from kids: A wonderful surprise

Today's mail brought in a wonderful surprise. I got four adorable handmade cards. These cards came from the Wright Family in San Antonio. They are such a wonderful family and I have such fun sending them handmade cards and supplies. The kids often send me their works of art as well. Here's some great photos that show their work and long with some detail shots.

From Kate:
The card is actually much brighter than the scan shows. She uses several layers of pink together along with beautiful die cuts, stickers, and cute layered flowers.

Inside she decorate with this adorable flower made from Making Memories. I love the detailing she added to the leaf to make it more authentic. She also lined the bottom of the inside of the card with these cute heart stickers and a Best Wishes stickers. She decorated the back of her card with this adorable flower and stamp. She has beautiful handwriting!!

From John:
John made this cute card. I love the blue sky and how he added a cloud.

He added cute detailing to the butterfly to show it's flying. Inside the card he put this pretty flower. I loved the punched images across the bottom of the card.

From Jill
Jill made this pretty in pink card and decorated the corners with a heart punch from Fiskars. She made a cute "Best Wishes" sentiment for the front and decorated it with a die cut flower. Inside she decorated it with pink and red flowers on the corners. She has such beautiful penmanship!

From Joseph:
Joseph made a wonderful rainbow card. I am so impressed that he puts the colors in the proper order. He stencilled letters onto the front of the card and use a heart punch from Fiskars on the bottom. He decorated the inside with cute smiley face stickers and stars. He was the winner of the School Spelling bee!!

It was really wonderful to get 4 nice cards in the mail today. You can really see the design, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness of their work. In addition to what I showed here, they also each wrote a whole paragraph in their cards that were incredibly touching for someone who is facing surgery. Their words are as touching as their art. (And these kids all have amazing penmanship, great grammar and spelling. WOW);

Today (2/3/10) I got another card from the Wrights, this one from Samantha! She used pink paper and stenciled words along with other cute images! Here are some fun pictures of her card
Thanks so much you all! Big Hugs, Holley

Let's Get Together....

Here's a cute invitation to send to a friend to invite them to come on over and do some stamping with you. Tilda looks so sweet in her blue jean overalls and wants to say that "You are my sunshine". I wish I could invite you all over to do some stamping with me.
Only TWO days to surgery now! Can you believe it is already here? Time sure does fly.
