Luck of the Irish

Here's a stamp from Katie Della Terza of Queen Kat Stamps called Luck of the Irish. There several wonderful stamps from this artist on Queen Kat's site (CLICK HERE). I did this stamp using two sheets of Paper Temptress Mica cardstock in green, Spring Green and Emerald green. I stamped the image on Neenah cardstock. I added corner embellishments from a punch because they reminded me of the Celtic knots in her image.
Queen Kat has a huge announcement coming....I'll give you a hint...it has something to do with the blue background!

Project Materials: Cardstock(Paper Temptress-Mica Cardstock Emerald, Neenah); Stamp (Queen Kat Stamps); Corner Punch (Martha Stewart); White ink(Gel Pen); Color (Copic Markers); Adhesives (pop dots, Glue All, Glue dots);

Spring Butterfly

Here's a beatiful image from Sweet Pea artist ching-chou kiuk called Spring Butterfly. This stamp is sold individually or on Plate #143. My coloring of this image is so different from the artist depiction. Be sure to go an look at the link I included to see how she colored the image, then you can see how different it looks here with the color palette that I selected.I added a sweet saying from plate #77 "Garden Fairies come at dawn Bless the flowers, then they're gone." She looks just like a Garden Fairy doesn't she? playing with the butterflies? I added some simple flowers and bling along with a cute butterfly. I used a wonderful die cut frame from Spellbinders to cut out my image.

Hope you have a Fairy day!

Cheers, Holley

There's magic in the air!

As I am sure you know, here's one of my favorite companies! You can probably recognize this artist if you follow my blog. It's Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp's artist Annie Rodrigue. She makes the most adorable cute and sometime quirky characters. I just love her designs. Each stamp has such a wonderful personality. I found this great lace ribbon that I think goes perfect with this image and I used some wonderful chalk ink on the bazzill swiss cardstock to highlight the text. YUM! There is some magic in the air!Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill Swiss, AC Metallic, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps); Ink (Memento, Studio G); Lace (Hobby Lobby); Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue dots, Glue all, Ribbon Glue); Color (Copic Markers);

Sakura Spirit

Here's a great stamp called Sakura Spirit designed by Sweet Pea artist Merdith Dillman (plate #137). I love her wonderful images. I really wanted this image to stand out on a card, so I used a simple background of metallic glazed paper and added a wonderful punch on top in a color that matched her eyes. I used five shades of blues on her outfit and extremely pale colors on her skin tones, almost like china white. Though the image is not an anime image at all, it very much makes me think of that due to the color scheme.

Meredith Dillman has a huge variety of images and they are all very detailed and wonderful fun for coloring, which I enjoy! She's definitely one of my Sweet Pea favorites.

Have a great day!

Think Happy Thoughts Dragon

This sweet dragon is called Lazy Dragon by artist Melia Newman of Queen Kat Stamps (Click here). He just looks so peaceful in this image. I colored him up in red and orange copic markers. I added a great saying to him "Think Happy Thoughts"
I am very much a believer in Happy Thoughts (and lots of prayer!). When in the hospital during brain surgery time goes very slow. Happy Thoughts are a huge blessing.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Queen Kat Stamps); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Flowers (Prima); Bling (Queen &Co); Adhesives (Glue All, Pop dots, Glue Dots); Color (Copic Markers);

Dare to be Remarkable

Shouldn't we all? Aren't we all really? I guess we don't often think of ourselves as remarkable, but I am sure there is something remarkable about each of us, even if it is something that we don't share with others. Guess I am not really sure what is remarkable about me, perhaps I should ask you guys.... I guess I walk 7 days a week, anywhere from 3 to 7 hours (totals 12-23 miles per day); Gone through 2 brain surgeries and I am now doing so well and feel so blessed. Incredibly happy and just loving life...is that remarkable? lol, when I look around at all the sad stressed out people around me, it seems to be.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, Cloud 9); Rubber Stamp (Tickled Pink); Saying (Sticker); Bling (Michaels); Color (Copic Markers); Die Cut (Spellbinders Nestabilities); Adhesives (pop dots, glue all);

Guest Artist: Aspen Smith

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there. I had a nice visit with a crafty friend this week and her grand daughter Aspen. Aspen is also a wonderful crafter, so far I have seen her make quilts, cards and scrapbooks! This week, she showed me a beautiful quilt that she made and a scrapbook that she has started! So amazing. This girl has great talent in lots of crafting areas.

Aspen made this adorable card for me to thank me for her bday gift, she even decorated the envelope. So dear!

Here's a great photo of the inside of the card. She wrote a sweet note and has nice handwriting. She embossed the paper background and used lots of the cute embellishments that I gave her on both the scrapbook that she worked on as well as the card!

She even decorated the envelope she gave it in! It might be hard to tell from the photo but the thanks on the back of the envelope is embossed on there! There's an adorable punched out star where the envelope seals closed. Such wonderful thought put into each detail on her items!

Hugs Aspen!! Great work. I hope all the crafters who see this will leave you some wonderful comments about your project. Come 'on everyone!
Cheers, Holley

Meet Humphrey

Hi, everyone! Today's card is using a wonderful set of new stamps from Humphrey's Corner called Humphrey Stamp Set. This adorable set is about to be released and will be on sale soon! Isn't he adorable? There will be several other wonderful sets with Humphrey. The card I am showing here is a standing display.
I used the Ultimate Tool to create this card out of beautiful mica cardstock from the Crafter's Companion website. The thick sturdiness of this cardstock makes this project stand up wonderfully when it is completed. It is also perfect for making the box due to it's strong texture.

All the directions for creating this card are included on the DVD that comes with the Ultimate tool. The photo below (and on the left) shows a stamped image of the text stamp that comes in the Humphrey set "With Love from me to you." The image on the right hand side shows the entire card and how it stands up-right, as well as the text that is included on the right hand side of the card "Thinking of you."

Here's the backside of the card. The video also shows you how to make an adorable box that fits the card perfectly!

I used a couple of adorable stamps to decorate the back of my card, a wonderful vase and flower plus a cute saying "A Humphrey Original". Can't you imagine giving this pop up card to a friend?

Cheers everyone!

Princess

Here's one of the stunning new images from artist ching-chou kiuk of Sweet Pea Stamps. Isn't she a beauty? She is called Magic Spread and she comes on plate #143. I colored her using Copic markers and added a wonderful vertical stamp "Princess" from Plate #48. I love using a monotone theme on a card so I chose pinks for this one. She's so light and elegant so she needed a color that could be both light and bright at the same time. I think yellow would also be a wonderful color for her.

Shouldn't we all be treated like a Princess today? Lol, if you are as lucky as me, you would be married to my prince charming!

The Envelobox--Problem Solved!!

Happy Friday everyone! I got this new tool recently, an add-on board for my Ultimate Tool from Crafter's Companion. This tool set came with an Envelobox Creator, The Boxer, and a DVD full of projects! Woohoo. So, this week, I was making a sweet card and I added some of those gorgeous yet very bulky flowers to it. The main image has also been raised up using wonderful pop dots. It looks amazing, but also makes the card's presentation somewhat hard.

How do you give someone a card when it won't go into an envelope? Do you just leave the card out of an envelope? Get a HUGE envelope that is oversized and too bulky? I know I am not the only crafter who goes through this dilemma. Well, I now have a solution for this! My new tool lets me make envelopes in ANY SIZE and to the thickness that I want. I can make a flat envelope, or for cards like this I can make an envelope with a 1/2" height, so the flowers will fit in nicely! YES!!

Here's a detailed photo so you can see how large the flowers are on this project. Aren't they so cute? I just used thick pop dots to hold them in place.

The wonderful stamps I used on this card come from an adorable set from Crafter's Companion called Flower Fairies Rosebay Willowherb. I used chalk ink in white and Versamark ink to stamp a flower in the background. I stamped the main fairy in Memento Ink and colored her using Copic Markers.

Once the card was created, I used my envelobox tool to create a perfectly fitted envelobox for my project. This tool comes with a chart that tells you the exact paper size to use, the video shows great step by step instructions! The beautiful paper that I chose for this project comes from the Fairyopolis Paper Pad.

Here's a photo of the front side of my envelobox standing upright. It's 1/2" wide and is sturdy enough to stand up on its own. I added a small label to the from using cute stamps, a butteryfly from the same stamp collection as earlier and a "With Love" stamp from the Zinnia Flower Fairy stamp set. I used some muted Colorbox chalk ink to go with the beautiful pink paper of the Fairyopolis paper.

The image below shows a much better look at the final creation, as you can see how perfectly my card will fit in my adorable envelobox. Once it was completed, I punched two holes on my tab and two holes in the base of the envelope to add some wonderful sheer ribbon that will be used to tie up the project.

Isn't this a totally gorgeous card you would want to present to someone?

Here's another image that shows both the card and the back side image of the envelobox that I made for it. I hope you can't wait to start making your own creations perfect little boxes too!
Have a very crafty day!!

Cheers, Holley

Close to my Heart

Here's a wonderful stamp from Queen Kat stamps. This stamp was created by artist Kat Burgon and is called "Close to my Heart" I just love this image. The look on her face is so precious. She's holding a book close to her heart. No doubt she has written something private on it.
Huge prayers and thoughts to the family of Mary Wilson (my husband's grandmother). She was a wonderful lady and a great crafter. She and I shared a lot of crafts together. Her funeral is today. I will always have some wonderful projects that she gave me, beautiful blankets and decorations that she made for my christmas tree. Thoughts of her will never go far.

Project materials: Cardstock (Sapphire Mica, Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamp(Queen Kat); Ink (Memento); Flowers (Prima); Die Cut (Spellbinders - Nestabilities); Adhesives (Pop dots, Glue Dots, Ribbon Glue, Glue All); Color (Copic Markers);

Live Laugh and Love (BLOG CANDY)

Here's a wonderful Sweet Pea image from artist ching-chou kiuk. This lady is called Moon Garden and she is sold seperately or on Plate #124. I love her mystical look as she is staring off and lost in thought. It makes this wonderful saying match her so well."Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow; Don't walk behind me, I may not lead; Walk beside me and just be my friend." (Plate #121); I used a wonderful printed sheet of black and white paper to add a little more "noise" to the background of the card. The punch on the left is from Martha Stewart. The beautiful vertical saying comes from the Vertical sayings sheet (Plate #4).

Hope you will have Live Love and Laugh today! This is the last week for the blog candy celebration! Leave a comment on today's posting for the final drawing!! (Sign ups until June 6th midnight est);

Hugs, Holley
